The Ottawa Redblacks parted ways with Head Coach Bob Dyce on Saturday after the team concluded the 2025 season with a 35-15 loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Friday night. The Redblacks finished with a 4-14 record. In four seasons as Ottawa’s head coach, Dyce was 18-39-1.

“This is a difficult day as Bob poured his heart, sweat, and tears into our organization over the past 11 years. His work ethic and desire to get the best out of his players was seen every day,” said Shawn Burke, General Manager of the Ottawa Redblacks. “Bob is someone I worked with daily and leaned on as a colleague and friend. I want to thank him for all his contributions to our team and wish him all the best in the future.”

Last year, the 59-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba, led the Redblacks to a 9-8-1 record, leading them to the playoffs against the eventual Grey Cup champion Toronto Argonauts in the Semi-Final round. It was the first time Ottawa appeared in the playoffs in six seasons.

Dyce arrived in Ottawa in 2016 as a special teams coordinator, helping the Redblacks win the Grey Cup over the Calgary Stampeders. He held the position for seven seasons before taking over coaching duties for the Ottawa Redblacks on October 3, 2022, after Ottawa fired Paul LaPolice. He coached the final four games of the 2022 season, leading the team to a 1-3 record. In 2023, Ottawa finished 4-14.

Dyce got his coaching career started in 1992 as an assistant coach of the St. Vital Mustangs (CJFL). He was there for two seasons before becoming the offensive coordinator/receivers coach of the Winnipeg Hawkeyes (CJFL) from 1994-95.

In 1996, Dyce became the receivers coach for the Manitoba Bisons (CIS). He spent seven seasons with Manitoba before moving up to the CFL to become the receivers coach for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He spent seven seasons in Winnipeg before joining the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2010 as the team’s passing game coordinator/receivers coach. He held the position for two years before moving up to offensive coordinator in 2012.

In 2013, Dyce transitioned to special teams coordinator. During that time, the Roughriders won the 2013 Grey Cup over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He held the position for three seasons, including taking over head coaching duties in Saskatchewan during the 2015 season.

In 2015, the Roughriders started the season 0-9, leading to the firing of head coach Crey Chamblin, and Bob Dyce was named the interim head coach. Under Dyce, the Roughriders went 3-6 for the season, finishing with a record of 3-15. Dyce was not retained after the season.
