
The Temple Owls (4-3, 2-1) visited Jerry Richardson Stadium on Saturday afternoon against the Charlotte 49ers (1-6, 0-4). Temple’s offense had 384 yards (212 yards passing, 172 yards rushing), 18 first downs, and the team was penalized three times for 40 yards as the Owls routed the 49ers 49-14. The win ended Temple’s 21-game road conference losing streak.
Temple quarterback Evan Simon completed 15 of 22 passes (68.1%) for 194 yards, three touchdowns, six carries for 16 yards, and one rushing touchdown. Running back Jay Ducker had nine carries for 114 yards and one rushing touchdown.
Wide receiver Kajiya Hollawayne made five catches for 85 yards and one touchdown, while Peter Clarke made three catches for 31 yards and one touchdown, and Colin Chase made one catch for 11 yards and one touchdown.
The defense allowed 357 yards (158 yards passing, 199 yards rushing), 21 first downs, with 67 tackles, nine tackles for loss, two sacks, two pass breakups, one interception, two fumble recoveries, and two touchdowns.
