The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series visited Talladega Superspeedway on Friday afternoon in the Love’s RV Stop 225. Giovanni Ruggiero started the race on the pole, with Ty Majeski starting second.

Giovanni Ruggiero led a race-high 37 laps, including winning the second stage and leading the final seven laps, beating Corey Heim in overtime by 0.059 seconds for his first career Craftsman Truck Series win. Ty Majeski, Dawson Sutton, and Layne Riggs rounded out the top five.

Tyler Ankrum, Matt Crafton, Corey LaJoie, Rajah Caruth, and Kaden Honeycutt completed the top ten. Caruth led six laps and won the first stage. There were seven cautions for 29 laps, and 17 lead changes among 11 drivers.

Out of the seven cautions, Norm Benning’s truck blew an engine and went up in flames before he came to a stop. Benning was treated and released from the infield care center.

The Truck Series returns next Friday from Martinsville Speedway at 6 pm on FS1.
