Report: Dallas Renegades sign WR Jontre Kirklin and OL Dohnovan West

The Dallas Renegades signed wide receiver Jontre Kirklin and offensive lineman Dohnovan West on Friday according to James Larsen.

Jontre Kirklin is six foot and weighs 184 pounds. The 27-year-old from Lutcher, Louisiana, re-signed with the San Antonio Brahmas on September 16, 2024. In 2025, Kirklin made 35 catches for 284 yards, 14 kick returns for 327 yards in 10 games.

Kirklin signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. He spent part of the season on the practice squad before the Cardinals released him on September 6, 2022.

The Houston Roughnecks (XFL) drafted Kirklin in the seventh round (56th pick) in Phase 1 of the 2023 XFL Draft. In 2023, 15 catches for 253 yards, four touchdowns, completed one pass for 49 yards, and one touchdown in five games.

The San Antonio Brahmas signed Kirklin on January 19, 2024. In 2024, Kirklin made 56 catches for 614 yards and three touchdowns, and completed 2 of 3 passes (66.7%) for 51 yards, one touchdown, and six tackles (6 solo) in 10 games.

In the playoffs, Kirklin made 10 catches for 85 yards, helping San Antonio reach the UFL Championship Game against the Birmingham Stallions. He finished the season as the UFL’s receptions leader. The Brahmas released him on August 6, 2024.

He signed with the San Francisco 49ers on August 7, 2024. He played in three preseason games but recorded no stats. The 49ers released him on August 26, 2024.

Collegiately, Kirklin played five seasons at LSU (2017-21) with 20 catches for 313 yards, two touchdowns, 11 carries for 61 yards, completing 7 of 11 passes (63.6%) for 138 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions in 57 games for the Tigers.

Dohnovan West is six foot three and weighs 309 pounds. The 24-year-old from Mission Hills, California, played 10 games, of which six were starts for the Battlehawks in 2025. The Battlehawks released him on August 20, 2025. West signed with the Arizona Cardinals on the same day. He attended training camp and was released on August 25, 2025.

St. Louis averaged 23.1 points per game, 289.8 yards per game, 145.6 passing yards per game, 144.2 rushing yards per game, 23 touchdowns, and allowed 22 sacks, finishing 8-2 for the season. The Battlehawks would appear in the XFL Conference Championship game against the D.C. Defenders.

The San Francisco 49ers signed West as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. In 2022, he played three preseason games. The 49ers released him on August 29, 2022. The Vegas Vipers of the XFL drafted West in the third round (20th pick) in Phase 4 of the 2023 XFL Draft. In 2023, he played 10 games, of which seven were starts.

The Vipers were not included in the USFL and XFL merger that formed the United Football League (UFL). The St. Louis Battlehawks drafted West in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. In 2024, he played nine games.

St. Louis’s offense ranked sixth in total offense yards (2,721), third in rushing yards (977), seventh in passing yards (1,744), sixth in yards per game (272.1), and second in touchdowns (30). The Battlehawks appeared in the XFL Conference Championship game against the San Antonio Brahmas.

Collegiately, West played three seasons at Arizona State (2019-21), starting 27 games as a center for the Sun Devils. In 2021, Arizona State averaged 28.4 points per game, 194.7 passing yards per game, 194.9 rushing yards per game, 389.6 total yards per game, and 46 touchdowns, finishing 6-3 for the season. They appeared in the Las Vegas Bowl against Wisconsin. West was named Second Team All-Pac 12.
