The St. Louis Battlehawks re-signed running back Jarveon Howard, offensive lineman Steven Gonzalez and Ryan Coll, and defensive back Avery Young on Monday according to James Larsen.

Jarveon Howard is five foot ten and weighs 215 pounds. The 25-year-old from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks on December 6, 2024. In 2025, Howard 68 carries for 310 yards, three rushing touchdowns, and eight catches for 42 yards in 10 games. In the playoffs, he had five carries for five yards and two catches for 19 yards.

The Battlehawks released Howard on August 19, 2025, and he signed with the Buffalo Bills on the same day. An injury kept him from playing in the preseason, and he was released on August 23, 2025.

The Green Bay Packers signed Howard as an undrafted free agent on May 3, 2024. In 2024, Howard had eight carries for 44 yards in one preseason game. He missed the last two games with an ankle injury, and the Packers released him on August 29, 2024.

Collegiately, Howard played three seasons at Syracuse (2018-19, 2021) with 151 carries for 731 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 11 catches for 77 yards in 26 games for the Orange. Then, he transferred to Alcorn State (2022-23) with 22 carries for 403 yards, 19 touchdowns, 37 catches for 225 yards, one touchdown, and two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in 22 games for the Braves. He was named First Team All-SWAC in 2023.

Steven Gonzalez is six foot five and weighs 341 pounds. The 28-year-old from Union City, New Jersey, re-signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks on August 14, 2024. In 2025, Gonzalez started nine games. St. Louis averaged 23.1 points per game, 289.8 yards per game, 145.6 passing yards per game, 144.2 rushing yards per game, 23 touchdowns, and allowed 22 sacks, finishing 8-2 for the season. He was named to the All-UFL Team.

The Arizona Cardinals signed Gonzalez as an undrafted free agent on April 30, 2020. He was released by the Cardinals on August 30, 2020, and signed with the Buffalo Bills on May 13, 2021. The Bills released him on August 19, 2021.

The St. Louis Battlehawks drafted Gonzalez in the third round (23rd pick) in Phase 4 of the 2023 XFL Draft. He started 10 games for the Battlehawks in 2023 and was named to the All-XFL Team after the season.

In 2024, Gonzalez started 10 games. St. Louis’s offense ranked sixth in total offense yards (2,721), third in rushing yards (977), seventh in passing yards (1,744), sixth in yards per game (272.1), and second in touchdowns (30).

Collegiately, Gonzalez played four seasons at Penn State (2016-19), playing left guard in 50 games, of which 42 were starts for the Nittany Lions. He was named Second Team All-Big Ten in 2019.

In 2019, Penn State tied a Cotton Bowl record with five rushing touchdowns, 396 rushing yards, a program bowl record, and the second-most in Cotton Bowl history, and set a Cotton Bowl record for points in the first half (35).

Ryan Coll is six foot five and weighs 324 pounds. The 24-year-old from Gainesville, Virginia, signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks on March 6, 2025. In 2025, he played two games, of which one was a start. St. Louis averaged 23.1 points per game, 289.8 yards per game, 145.6 passing yards per game, 144.2 rushing yards per game, 23 touchdowns, and allowed 22 sacks, finishing 8-2 for the season.

The Atlanta Falcons signed Coll as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. The Falcons released him on July 24, 2024. Next, the Indianapolis Colts signed Coll on August 7, 2024. He suffered a shoulder injury and missed the entire 2024 season. Coll became a free agent after the 2024 season. The Toronto Argonauts signed Coll on March 4, 2025. Toronto released him on March 5, 2025.

Collegiately, Coll played five seasons at the University of Richmond (2019-23), starting as a tight end before moving to offensive line. He made one catch for 15 yards, two carries for -2 yards, and three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) in 38 games for the Spiders.

In 2023, Richmond averaged 28.15 points per game, 131.8 rushing yards per game, 213.77 passing yards per game, 345.5 total yards per game, 48 touchdowns, and allowed 33 sacks, finishing 9-4 for the season, making it to the second round of the FCS Playoffs.

Coll was named a two-time First Team All-CAA, Second Team FCS All-American in 2022, and Third Team All-CAA in 2023.

Avery Young is six foot and weighs 198 pounds. The 26-year-old from Coatesville, Pennsylvania, signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks on October 25, 2024. He attended training camp, and the team released him on March 20, 2025. He re-signed with the Battlehawks on April 17, 2025. In 2025, he made two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in two games.

The San Francisco 49ers signed Young as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2022. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Young on August 7, 2023. In 2023, he with three tackles (1 solo, 2 assists) in three preseason games. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Young on March 18, 2024. The Ticats released him on May 15, 2024.

Collegiately, Young played five seasons at Rutgers (2018-22) with 326 tackles (169 solos, 157 assists), 10 tackles for loss, three sacks, three interceptions for 31 yards, 26 pass breakups, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three kick returns for 51 yards, and 35 punt returns for 146 yards in 57 games for the Scarlet Knights.

He was named a two-time All-Big Ten Honorable Mention (2020, 2022), two-time All-ECAC Defense (2021-22), Academic All-Big Ten (2020), and won the Iron Knight Award in 2022.
