Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign OL Hunter Poncius, four others to the practice squad

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed offensive lineman Hunter Poncius, defensive linemen Kydran Jenkins and Matt Jaworski, linebacker Matthew Jackson, and defensive back Major Williams to the practice squad on Thursday according to the CFL Transactions page. In addition, they also signed offensive lineman Zovon Lindsey to a future contract starting in 2026.

Hunter Poncius is six foot eight and weighs 318 pounds. The 24-year-old from Buffalo, Minnesota, signed with the Montreal Alouettes on April 16, 2025. In 2025, he played left guard in two preseason games. The Alouettes released him on May 31, 2025.

Collegiately, Poncius played five seasons at North Dakota State (2019-24), playing 40 games for the Bisons. He was named the 2023 MVFC Presidents Council Academic Award, four-time MVFC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award (2020-23), and a five-time MVFC Honor Roll (2019-24).

In 2024, he was a backup left tackle for the majority of the 2024 season. He played 16 games on the PAT and field goal units. He started the final three games at left tackle for the Bisons.

North Dakota State averaged 38.1 points per game, 193.3 rushing yards per game, 224.2 passing yards per game, 76 touchdowns, and allowed 20 sacks, finishing 10-2 for the season on this way to winning the FCS National Championship defeating Montana State. It was North Dakota State’s tenth FCS National Championship and 18th overall title in program history.

Kydran Jenkins is six foot and weighs 256 pounds. The 23-year-old from Louisville, Georgia, attended the Carolina Panthers rookie minicamp in 2025.

Collegiately, Jenkins played five seasons at Purdue (2020-24) with 207 tackles (136 solos, 71 assists), 44 tackles for loss, 23.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and four pass breakups in 52 games for the Boilermakers. Jenkins was named Third Team All-Big Ten, Fourth Team All-Big Ten, and a three-time All-Big Ten Honorable Mention.

Matt Jaworski is six foot five and weighs 260 pounds. A native of Buffalo, New York, Jaworski attended the Buffalo Bills rookie minicamp in 2025.

Collegiately, Jaworski played four seasons at Fordham (2021-24) with 167 tackles (87 solos, 80 assists), 42.5 tackles for loss, 19.5 sacks, eight pass breakups, six forced fumbles, two blocked kicks, and two punt returns for 32 yards in 41 games for the Rams.

Jaworski was named a two-time First Team All-Patriot League, two-time First Team All-Patriot League by Phil Steele, Phil Steele Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, Second Team All-American by Stats Perform, and Fourth Team All-American by Phil Steele.

Matthew Jackson is six foot one and weighs 209 pounds. The 26-year-old from Chicago, Illinois, signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. In 2023, he made four tackles (2 solos, 2 assists) in three preseason games. Jackson appeared in 10 regular-season games with six tackles (3 solos, 3 assists).

In 2024, he made four tackles (3 solos, 1 assist) in three preseason games. The Titans released him on August 27, 2024. The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Jackson to the practice squad on August 29, 2024. He dressed for one game and became a free agent after the 2024 season.

Collegiately, Jackson played five seasons at Eastern Kentucky University (2018-22) with 294 tackles (170 solos, 124 assists), 27.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two interceptions for 41 yards, 14 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries in 50 games for the Colonels. Jackson was named First Team All-ASUN, First Team All-ASUN by Phil Steele, Fourth Team All-American by Phil Steele and DraftScout, and Third Team All-American by Stats Perform.

Major Williams is six foot one and weighs 190 pounds. A native of Fort Myers, Florida, Williams attended the Kansas City Chiefs rookie minicamp before signing a contract on May 6, 2025. In 2025, he made seven tackles (4 solos, 3 assists) in three preseason games. The Chiefs released him on August 26, 2025.

Collegiately, Williams started at Virginia in 2019, appearing in three games for the Cavaliers. Next, he transferred to Iowa Central Community College in the 2020-21 season with 36 tackles (28 solos, 8 assists), two tackles for loss, one interception for 59 yards, seven pass breakups, one blocked kick, five kick returns for 171 yards, one touchdown, and two punt returns for 14 yards in eight games for the Tritons. He was named First Team All-ICCAC.

Then, he transferred to Carson-Newman (2022-24) with 155 tackles (98 solos, 57 assists), 22.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, four interceptions for 42 yards, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, 26 pass breakups, three kick returns for 26 yards, and nine punt returns for 295 yards, and one touchdown in 34 games for the Eagles. He was named a two-time First Team All-SAC, Second Team All-Region, All-American by D2Football.com, and D2Football.com Elite 100 list.

Zovon Lindsey is six foot four and weighs 305 pounds. A native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Lindsey went undrafted in 2025.

Collegiately, Lindsey spent two seasons at N.C. State (2019-20). He did not play for the Wolfpack. Then, he transferred to Coastal Carolina (2021-24), playing right tackle in 39 games for the Chanticleers. In 2024, Coastal Carolina averaged 28.69 points per game, 172.5 rushing yards per game, 201.23 passing yards per game, 373.7 total yards per game, 46 touchdowns, and allowed 15 sacks, finishing 6-7 for the season. After the season, he competed in the 10th-annual Trillion Tropical Bowl.
