Rutgers falls short against Minnesota for their second straight loss

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-2) visited Huntington Bank Stadium on Saturday afternoon against the Minnesota Golden Gophers (3-1). Rutgers had 387 yards on offense (249 yards passing, 138 yards rushing), 29 first downs, and was penalized five times for 41 yards in a 31-28 loss to the Golden Gophers.

Rutgers quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis completed 21 of 24 passes (87.5%) for 249 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and 10 carries for -29 yards. Running back Antwan Raymond had 26 carries for 161 yards, two rushing touchdowns, and one catch for 12 yards.

Wide receiver K.J. Duff led the receivers making six catches for 84 yards and one touchdown, while D.T. Sheffield made five catches for 74 yards and one touchdown. The defense allowed 359 yards (324 yards passing, 35 yards rushing), 53 tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, and one pass breakup.

Minnesota quarterback Drake Lindsey completed 31 of 41 passes (75.6%) for 324 yards and three touchdowns. Rutgers is off next week. They visit the Washington Huskies on Friday, October 11, 2025, at 9 pm on FS1.
