Temple Owls fall behind early and lose to Georgia Tech

The Temple Owls (2-2) visited Bobby Dodd Stadium on Saturday against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (4-0). The game was delayed by 30 minutes due to lightning in the area. Temple trailed Georgia Tech 21-0 and was unable to come back as they lost to the Yellow Jackets 45-24.

Temple’s offense had 328 yards (144 yards passing, 184 yards rushing) and 19 first downs. Quarterback Evan Simon completed 13 of 32 passes (40.6%) for 127 yards, one touchdown, and 14 carries for 68 yards. Backup quarterback Gevani McCoy completed 4 of 5 passes (80%) for 17 yards and one touchdown.

Running back Jay Ducker had 14 carries for 76 yards, one rushing touchdown, and one catch for 15 yards. Wide receiver JoJo Bermudez made four catches for 58 yards and one touchdown, while Xavier Irvin made one catch for four yards and one touchdown. The defense allowed 468 yards (161 yards passing, 307 yards rushing), made 47 tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, and one pass breakup.

Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King completed 13 of 18 passes (72%) for 161 yards, two touchdowns, eight carries for 15 yards, and one rushing touchdown.

The Owls will have a bye next week. Their next is October 4, 2025, from Lincoln Financial Field against the University of Texas at San Antonio.
