Hamilton Tiger-Cats sign RB Shane Watts, four others to the practice squad

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed running back Shane Watts and Marcus Yarns, defensive tackle Caiden Woullard, linebacker Ryan Meed, and defensive back Cameron Bergeron to the practice squad on Tuesday.

Shane Watts is five foot nine and weighs 195 pounds. A native of De Soto, Kansas, Watts attended the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie minicamp in 2025. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Watts on July 16, 2025. He spent a week on the practice squad before he was released on July 23, 2025.

Collegiately, Watts played four seasons at Fort Hayes State University (2021-24) with 334 carries for 1,979 yards, 18 rushing touchdowns, 61 catches for 606 yards, five touchdowns, one kick return for 17 yards, 18 tackles (14 solos, 4 assists), and one pass breakup in 44 games for the Tigers.

In 2024, he had 223 carries for 1,303 yards, 13 rushing touchdowns, 41 catches for 449 yards, four touchdowns, and one kick return for 17 yards in 11 games. Watts was named First Team All-MIAA, Second Team All-MIAA, Second Team All-American by AP, D2CCA, and the Don Hansen Football Committee. He was the first player in school history to have back-to-back 200-yard rushing games against Missouri Southern and Emporia State.

Marcus Yarns is five foot eleven and weighs 190 pounds. The 23-year-old from Salisbury, Maryland, signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2025. In 2025, he had two carries for four yards and four catches for 28 yards in three preseason games. The Saints released him on August 26, 2025.

Collegiately, Yarns played four seasons at Delaware (2021-24) with 365 carries for 2,344 yards, 23 rushing touchdowns, 64 catches for 812 yards, 11 touchdowns, two punt returns for 37 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 34 games for the Fightin’ Blue Hens.

He was invited to the NFL Combine, East-West Shrine Bowl, and Reese’s Senior Bowl. He was named First Team All-CAA, Second Team All-CAA, and Third Team All-American by FCS Football Central.

Caiden Woullard is six foot four and weighs 264 pounds. The 22-year-old from Massillon, Ohio, attended the Indianapolis Colts rookie minicamp in 2025.

Collegiately, Woullard spent three seasons at Miami (OH) (2021-23) with 75 tackles (35 solos, 40 assists), 17.5 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, five pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and four blocked kicks in 38 games for the Redhawks. Then, he transferred to Oklahoma in 2024 with 13 tackles (4 solos, 9 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one pass breakup in 11 games for the Sooners.

Ryan Meed is six foot one and weighs 230 pounds. The 23-year-old from Brooklyn, New York, attended the Philadelphia Eagles rookie minicamp in 2025.

Collegiately, Meed played six seasons at Illinois (2019-24) with 65 tackles (34 solos, 31 assists), two tackles for loss, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and one blocked kick in 53 games for the Fighting Illini. In 2024, he was a Campbell Trophy semifinalist, as one of the top candidates for the nation’s “Academic Heisman”.

Cameron Bergeron is six foot and weighs 190 pounds. The 22-year-old from Albany, Georgia, attended the Kansas City Chiefs rookie minicamp in 2025.

Collegiately, Bergeron played four seasons at Duke (2021-24) with 100 tackles (58 solos, 42 assists), 9.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one interception for -1 yard, three pass breakups, three force fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 46 games for the Blue Devils. He was an Academic All-ACC selection in 2023 and 2024, the 2024 National Football Foundation Hampshire Society member, and a recipient of the team’s K.D. Kennedy Iron Devil Award in 2024.
