Report: Birmingham Stallions re-sign defensive tackle Khalil Davis

The Birmingham Stallions re-signed defensive tackle Khalil Davis on Wednesday according to James Larsen.

Khalil Davis is six foot one and weighs 308 pounds. The 29-year-old from Blue Springs, Missouri, was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the sixth round (194th pick) of the 2020 NFL Draft. He also had stints with the Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Los Angeles Rams. He made two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in three regular-season games.

The Birmingham Stallions signed Davis on March 28, 2023. In 2023, he made 29 tackles (14 solos, 15 assists), three tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass breakup in nine games. In the playoffs, he made four tackles (2 solos, 2 assists), two tackles for loss, and one sack in two games as the Stallions beat the Pittsburgh Maulers in the 2023 USFL Championship Game.

The Stallions released him on July 27, 2023, and he signed with the Houston Texans on August 7, 2023. He spent two seasons in Houston with 41 tackles (22 solos, 19 assists), 10 tackles for loss, three sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 24 games.

The Texans traded Davis to the San Francisco 49ers on November 5, 2024. He made three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) in three games. He became a free agent after the 2024 season. He announced his retirement on July 21, 2025.

Collegiately, Davis played four seasons at Nebraska (2016-19) with 105 tackles (63 solos, 42 assists), 23 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 47 games, of which 11 were starts for the Cornhuskers.

He was named Third Team All-Big Ten in 2019, two-time Nebraska Defensive Lineman of the Year (2018-19), two-time All-Big Ten Honorable Mention (2018-19), three-time Brook Berringer Citizenship Team (2016-18), and a three-time Tom Osborne Citizenship Team (2016-18).
