Montreal Alouettes sign OL R.J. Perry to a future contract, release one

The Montreal Alouettes signed offensive lineman R.J. Perry to a future contract that starts in 2026, and released wide receiver Tyjon Lindsey from the practice squad on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

R.J. Perry is six foot six and weighs 330 pounds. The 23-year-old from Fairfield, Alabama, attended the New York Giants rookie minicamp in 2025.

Collegiately, Perry played three seasons at Tennessee (2020-22), starting as a defensive lineman before switching to offense. He played left tackle in 13 games for the Vols. In 2022, Tennessee averaged 46.08 points per game, 199.5 rushing yards per game, 326.1 passing yards per game, 525.5 total yards per game, 79 touchdowns, and allowed 27 sacks finishing 11-2 for the season. They beat Clemson in the Orange Bowl.

Then, he transferred to the University of South Florida (2023-24) playing right tackle, left tackle, and right guard in 23 games for the Bulls. In 2024, South Florida averaged 32.15 points per game, 180.8 rushing yards per game, 227.46 passing yards per game, 408.3 total yards per game, 53 touchdowns, and allowed 36 sacks finishing 7-6 for the season.

South Florida won the Hawaii Bowl over San Jose State. PFF graded Perry an overall 55.0, 52.0 in run blocking, and 61.4 in pass blocking. Perry also competed in the College Gridiron Classic.

Tyjon Lindsey is five foot eight and weighs 171 pounds. The 26-year-old from Corona, California, made eight catches for 71 yards, one touchdown, two kick returns for 45 yards, and four punt returns for 48 yards in two preseason games. The Alouettes released him on May 31, 2025. The Alouettes re-signed Lindsey on July 28, 2025. In 2025, he appeared in one regular-season game.

The Seattle Seahawks signed Lindsey as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. In 2023, he made five catches for 64 yards, one kick return for 16 yards, and two punt returns for 36 yards in three preseason games. The Seahawks released him on November 7, 2023.

The Montreal Alouettes signed Lindsey on January 30, 2024. In 2024, he made one catch for 39 yards, four kick returns for 55 yards, and three punt returns for 13 yards in one game. He spent the majority of the season on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Lindsey played two seasons at Nebraska (2017-18) making 15 catches for 98 yards, nine carries for 13 yards, six punt returns for one yard, and one kick return for 17 yards in 13 games for the Cornhuskers. Then, he transferred to Oregon State (2019-22) making 75 catches for 917 yards, nine touchdowns, 25 carries for 184 yards, three touchdowns, and completed 4 of 5 passes (80%) for 115 yards, and one touchdown in 39 games for the Beavers.
