Edmonton Elks sign offensive lineman Carter O’Donnell

The Edmonton Elks signed offensive lineman Carter O’Donnell on Tuesday.

Carter O’Donnell is six foot five and weighs 313 pounds. The 26-year-old from Calgary, Alberta, was drafted by the Montreal Alouettes in the third round (22nd pick) of the 2020 CFL Draft. He never played for them, and his rights were traded to the Edmonton Elks on May 3, 2022.

The Indianapolis Colts signed O’Donnell as an undrafted free agent on April 29, 2020. He spent two seasons in Indianapolis on and off the practice squad. The Colts released him on August 30, 2023. The Arizona Cardinals acquired O’Donnell via waivers on August 31, 2023. He spent a couple of seasons playing five games, of which three were starts. The Cardinals released him on July 23, 2024. This year, he worked out for the Houston Texans, but was not offered a contract.

Collegiately, O’Donnell played four seasons at the University of Alberta (2016-19) playing 32 games for the Golden Bears. During his time in Alberta, the Golden Bears would appear in two Semi-Final games. He was invited to the 2020 East-West Shrine Bowl.
