The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series started the first round playoffs on Saturday at Darlington Raceway in the Sober or Slammer 200. Layne Riggs started the race on the pole, with Chandler Smith starting second.
Chandler Smith led the opening ten laps until he suffered a flat right front tire and made contact with the wall in between Turns 3 & 4, allowing Layne Riggs to take the lead. Riggs would lead 20 laps until Corey Heim cleared him entering Turn 3 for the lead. Heim would go on to win stage one. It was his 16th stage win of the season.
Corey Heim beat Grant Enfinger off pit road to keep the lead. The second stage started on lap 54. Six laps later, Layne Riggs, who restarted third, passed Heim for the lead on the outside backstretch and cleared him in Turn 4. Riggs led 33 laps to win the second stage.
During the caution, Corey Heim emerged from pit road to get the lead over Grant Enfinger. The final stage started on lap 99. On lap 112, Layne Riggs passed Corey Heim for the lead. However, on lap 128, Riggs’s truck suffered a flat right front tire, and Corey Heim took the lead.
Riggs caught a break when Kaden Honeycutt and Andres Perez De Lara both spun after contact while battling for 14th on the frontstretch to bring out the caution. Riggs led 71 laps and finished in 17th place.
Heim was still the leader when the race restarted on lap 134. He would lead the final 20 laps to win his eighth race of the season by 0.766 seconds over Daniel Hemric. Heim led 65 laps. With the win, he advances to the next round of the playoffs.
Grant Enfinger, Ty Majeski, and Trevor Bayne rounded out the top five. Tanner Gray, Tyler Ankrum, Timmy Hill, Corey Day, and Jake Garcia rounded out the top ten.
The Truck Series returns on September 11, 2025, from Bristol Motor Speedway at 8 pm on FS1.
