The Calgary Stampeders (7-3) concluded Week 12 on Saturday night from McMahon Stadium against the Saskatchewan Roughriders (8-2). It was the second and last meeting of the regular season. The Roughriders scratched defensive back Marcus Sayles before the game, while the Stampeders welcomed back Damien Alford (hamstring) into the lineup after missing two weeks of action.
First Quarter:
Saskatchewan’s offense started the game on the 40-yard line. Running back A.J. Ouellette carried the ball two times for 10 yards, and a defensive pass interference penalty on Calgary placed the ball on the 20-yard line. The drive stalled, and kicker Brett Lauther missed a 28-yard field goal wide left. The ball went out of bounds for a single point. It was 1-0 with 12:36 left.
Calgary’s offense began its first drive of the game by getting called for a procedure penalty. Jalen Philpot rushed for 14 yards, Quincy Vaughn rushed for three yards, and Dedrick Mills rushed for six yards to the 52-yard line. On the next play, quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. threw a 46-yard pass to Daylen Baldwin to the six-yard line.
Then, Adams Jr. handed the ball off to Dedrick Mills. He followed his offensive linemen on the left side to score the touchdown. The Stampeders took a 7-1 lead with 8:57 left to cap off a five-play drive for 70 yards.
Late in the first quarter, Saskatchewan had the ball on the 50-yard line. Quarterback Trevor Harris’s pass intended for Dhonte Meyers was intercepted by Sheldon Arnold on the 38-yard line. However, Saskatchewan would get the ball back when the defense pressured Vernon Adams Jr. He threw the ball intended for Jalen Philpot, but Rolan Milligan Jr. was there for the interception on the 33-yard line with 3:43 left.
Saskatchewan’s offense gained 16 yards before the drive stalled. Punter Joe Couch punted the ball 62 yards into the endzone and out of bounds for a single point. The Roughriders trailed the Stampeders 7-2 to end the first quarter.
Calgary’s offense had 92 yards (60 yards passing, 32 yards rushing), and Saskatchewan’s offense had 34 yards (10 yards passing, 24 yards rushing).
Second Quarter:
In the second quarter, Calgary’s offense had the ball on the 49-yard line. After losing three yards, quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. threw two passes for 44 yards to the eight-yard line. On the next play, Adams Jr. threw the ball to Jalen Philpot, who was tripped but made an effort to stay in the air, and the ball broke the plane for the touchdown. Calgary extended its lead to 14-2 with 11:27 left to cap off a four-play drive for 49 yards.
Later, Saskatchewan’s offense had the ball on the 29-yard line. On the fourth play, Trevor Harris threw the ball to KeeSean Johnson. He ran for 62 yards before getting tackled on the eight-yard line. Two plays later, Harris threw a seven-yard touchdown pass to Dohnte Meyers. The Roughriders trailed the Stampeders 14-9 with 4:26 left to cap off a six-play drive for 81 yards.
Late in the second quarter, Saskatchewan’s offense moved the ball to the 10-yard line. Then, quarterback Trevor Harris completed a pass to Dhel Duncan-Bosby, who walked into the endzone. They attempted a two-point conversion, but did not get it. The Roughriders led the Stampeders 15-14 at halftime.

Third Quarter:
Calgary got the ball to start the third quarter on the 38-yard line. Running back Dedrick Mills led the way with three carries for 35 yards as the offense moved the ball to the 10-yard line. On the next play, Vernon Adams Jr. moved to his left side before throwing the ball right into the hands of Daylen Baldwin for the touchdown. The Stampeders took a 21-15 lead with 11:52 left to cap off a five-play drive for 72 yards.
Later, Calgary’s offense moved the ball to the 49-yard line. On the next play, Vernon Adams Jr.’s pass was deflected by Saskatchewan Malik Carney and intercepted by Jameer Thurman on the 46-yard line. An unnecessary roughness penalty on Saskatchewan placed the ball on the 31-yard line.
Calgary’s defense would get the ball back. Three plays in, Saskatchewan quarterback Trevor Harris’s pass intended for Dohnte Meyers was intercepted by Godfrey Onyeka on the 54-yard line with 5:10 left. Vernon Adams Jr. rushed for eight yards to the 46-yard line, and that’s all they would get. Kicker Rene Paredes made a 53-yard field goal to extend their lead to 24-15 with 3:12 left.
Late in the third quarter, Saskatchewan’s offense moved the ball to the 55-yard line. The drive stalled after Trevor Harris was sacked by Shaun Peterson Jr. for a seven-yard loss. The Stampeders got the ball on the 17-yard line to start the fourth quarter leading 24-15.
Fourth Quarter:
Calgary began the fourth quarter with three straight running plays for 33 yards to the 50-yard line. Vernon Adams Jr. threw two passes for 41 yards and two more running plays for six yards to the 11-yard line. On the next play, Adams Jr. threw the ball over Saskatchewan defensive back Tevaughn Campbell’s head and into the arms of Erik Brooks for the touchdown.
They went for a two-point conversion. Vernon Adams Jr. took it to the endzone for two points. The Stampeders led the Roughriders 32-15 with 9:18 left to cap off an eight-play drive for 93 yards.
Saskatchewan’s offense moved the ball to the 42-yard line. On third down, they needed four yards. Harris completed a pass to A.J. Ouellette, but it was for two yards, and a turnover on downs. The Stampeders went two-and-out on their next drive.
With the game out of reach, the Roughriders put Jake Maier in at quarterback. Saskatchewan was unable to find the endzone for the rest of the game. On third down, Mayer’s pass intended for Dohnte Meyers was incomplete, turning the ball over to Calgary. Vernon Adams Jr. took a couple of kneel downs to end the game. The Stampeders defeated the Roughriders 32-15.

Calgary’s offense had 361 yards (222 yards passing, 141 yards rushing, 2 yards lost), 17 first downs, 4 for 4 in the redzone, and the team was penalized five times for 77 yards. Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. completed 14 of 21 passes (66%) for 222 yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions, and two carries for 11 yards.
Running back Dedrick Mills had 16 carries for 78 yards, one touchdown, and three catches for 27 yards. Wide receiver Daylen Baldwin made three catches for 84 yards and one touchdown, while Jalen Philpot made three catches for 51 yards, one touchdown, and three carries for 31 yards. The defense made 44 tackles, one tackle for loss, four sacks, two interceptions, and two turnovers on downs.
Saskatchewan’s offense had 317 yards (257 yards passing, 89 yards rushing, 29 yards lost), 19 first downs, 2 for 3 in the redzone, and the team was penalized four times for 50 yards. Quarterback Trevor Harris completed 15 of 23 passes (65.2%) for 205 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, and one carry for five yards.
