IMSA Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway Recap

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship visited Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia, for the Michelin GT Challenge at VIR. GTD Pro and GTD were the only classes that competed in this race.

The No. 81 DragonSpeed Ferrari 296 GT3 of Giacomo Altoè and Albert Costa was on the pole for GTD Pro, and the No. 12 Vasser Sullivan Racing Lexus RC F GT3 of Jack Hawksworth and Parker Thompson was on the pole for GTD.

In GTD Pro, the No. 4 Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports of Nicky Catsburg and Tommy Milner held off the No. 81 DragonSpeed Ferrari 296 GT3 of Giacomo Altoè and Albert Costa to win their first race of the season. It is the 25th consecutive year that Pratt Miller Motorsports as at least one win.

In GTD, the No. 57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Philip Ellis and Russell Ward got in front of the No. 78 Forte Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 of Mario Farnbacher and Misha Goikhberg to win the race.

Mario Farnbacher was issued a drive-through penalty for blocking, and the No. 021 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari 296 GT3 of Kenton Koch and Onofrio Triarsi finished in second place. Check out the full results here.
