The Birmingham Stallions re-signed quarterback J’Mar Smith, defensive back Nevelle Clarke, and punter Colby Wadman on Thursday according to the UFL Transactions page.

J’Mar Smith is six foot one and weighs 218 pounds. The 28-year-old from Meridian, Mississippi, re-signed with the Stallions on May 3, 2025. In 2025, he completed 52 of 80 passes (65%) for 758 yards, six touchdowns, one interception, 22 carries for 87 yards, and one rushing touchdown in four games.

In the playoffs, Smith completed 4 of 10 passes (40%) for 102 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and one carry for five yards against the Michigan Panthers in the USFL Conference Championship Game.

Smith signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2020. After New England, he had a tryout with the Green Bay Packers before signing with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (CFL) on May 17, 2021, and was assigned to the practice squad. However, he was released a month later.

The Birmingham Stallions drafted Smith in the 12th round (96th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. Smith completed 131 of 239 passes (54.8%) for 1,573 yards, ten touchdowns, six interceptions, 38 carries for 187 yards, and two touchdowns in nine games, of which seven were starts for the Stallions. He is a two-time USFL Champion.

In 2023, Smith completed 10 of 15 passes (66.7%) for 160 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and two carries for one yard against the New Jersey Generals in Week 1 before suffering an injury on his left non-throwing ring finger and missed the rest of the 2023 season as the Stallions won their second USFL Championship over the Pittsburgh Maulers.

Smith re-signed with the Stallions on August 11, 2023. He did not see any action in 2024. The Stallions re-signed Smith on August 20, 2024. Smith was the backup quarterback to Case Cookus against the Memphis Showboats. The Stallions released him on April 25, 2025.

Collegiately, Smith played four seasons at Louisiana Tech (2016-19) completing 759 of 1,280 passes (59%) for 9,523 yards, 51 touchdowns, 21 interceptions, 326 carries for 856 yards, and 15 touchdowns in 44 games for the Bulldogs.

He was named First Team All-Conference USA and C-USA Offensive Player of the Year in 2019 after completing 236 of 367 passes (64%) for 2,977 yards, 18 touchdowns, five interceptions, 100 carries for 264 yards, and four touchdowns in 11 games.

Nevelle Clarke is six foot one and weighs 187 pounds. The 28-year-old from Miami, Florida, re-signed with the Birmingham Stallions on August 26, 2024. They released him on March 20, 2025. The Stallions re-signed him on May 20, 2025. In 2025, he made four tackles (4 solos) in two games. In the playoffs, he made three tackles (3 solos) against the Michigan Panthers in the USFL Conference Championship Game.

Clarke signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2020. The New Orleans Breakers signed Clarke as a free agent on April 1, 2022. He made 15 tackles (10 solos, 5 assists), two tackles for loss, one interception for 37 yards, one fumble recovery, and seven pass breakups in eight games for the New Orleans Breakers in 2022.

In 2023, Clarke made 26 tackles (21 solos, 5 assists), one tackle for loss, two interceptions for 14 yards, one forced fumble, and seven pass breakups in nine games. After the season, the Breakers released Clarke on August 14, 2023, to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers a day later. He played one preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons but recorded no stats.

The Birmingham Stallions signed Clarke on November 2, 2023. In 2024, Clarke made 24 tackles (17 solos, 7 assists), one interception, and five pass breakups in 8 games. In the 2024 UFL playoffs, Clarke made 4 tackles (3 solos, 1 assist), one forced fumble, and two pass breakups in two games helping the Stallions with their third consecutive championship (2 USFL, 1 UFL).

Collegiately, Clarke played four seasons at UCF (2016-19) with 107 tackles (92 solos, 15 assists), seven tackles for loss, one sack, five interceptions for 48 yards, one touchdown, one fumble recovery, and 29 pass breakups in 37 games for the Knights. He was named First Team All-AAC in 2018.

Colby Wadman is six foot one and weighs 185 pounds. The 30-year-old from Bangor, Maine, re-signed with the Stallions on August 16, 2024. In 2025, he punted the ball 29 times for 1,335 yards (46.0 AVG), with a long of 68 yards, 11 from inside the 20-yard line, and four touchbacks in 10 games. In the playoffs, he punted the ball two times for 101 yards (50.5 AVG), with a long of 60 yards against the Michigan Panthers in the USFL Conference Championship Game.

The Oakland Raiders signed Wadman as an undrafted free agent on March 17, 2018. He also had stints with the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers. In Denver, Wadman played two seasons punting the ball 143 times for 6,369 yards with a long of 65 yards, 11 touchbacks, 51 from inside the 20-yard line, 20 punts out of bounds, and 39 fair catches for 28 games for the Broncos.

The Birmingham Stallions drafted Wadman in the 33rd round (261st pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. In his first season, Wadman punted the ball 46 times for 2,073 yards (45.1%) with a long of 67 yards, 17 from inside the 20-yard line, four touchbacks, and had one punt blocked in ten games.

In 2023, Wadman punted the ball 27 times for 1,315 yards with a long of 65 yards, ten from inside the 20-yard line, five touchdowns, and one kickoff for 57 yards in ten games for the Stallions in 2023. He set a USFL record for punting average (48.5%). He was named to the All-USFL Team and won his second USFL Championship in 2023.

The Birmingham Stallions re-signed Wadman on July 19, 2023, but he was released on August 7, 2023, to sign with the Washington Commanders. However, he was released five days later and re-signed with the Stallions on September 26, 2023.

In 2024, he punted the ball 10 times for 356 yards (35.6 AVG) with a long of 53 yards, one touchback, and four from inside the 20-yard line in four games. The Stallions released Wadman on May 1, 2024, and re-signed him on May 20, 2024.

He finished the season punting the ball 23 times for 942 yards (41.0 AVG) with a long of 59 yards, three touchbacks, and nine from inside the 20-yard line in 6 games helping the Stallions win their third consecutive championship (2 USFL, 1 UFL).

Collegiately, Wadman played four seasons at the University of California-Davis (2013-16) punting the ball 244 times for 9,995 yards (41%) with a long of 66 yards, 24 touchbacks, 78 fair catches, 68 from inside the 20-yard line, 49 from 50-plus yards, two blocked punts, and two carries for eight yards in 45 games for the Aggies. He is a three-time All-Big Sky Honorable Mention (2013-14, 2016).
