Mike Benson is five foot nine and weighs 245 pounds. The 38-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba, re-signed with the Blue Bombers on February 11, 2025. In 2025, he played one game before a hip injury sidelined him.
The Edmonton Eskimos signed Benson on June 11, 2012. He made one tackle on special teams in three games. Next, the Toronto Argonauts signed Benson on June 1, 2014, and released him on June 22, 2014. The B.C. Lions signed Benson on August 31, 2014. He played five seasons making 15 tackles on special teams in 35 games. He also spent time with the Ottawa Redblacks in 2019 and the Montreal Alouettes in 2020, but the season was canceled.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed Benson on February 9, 2021. In 2021, he played 14 games helping them win the 108th Grey Cup over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. In 2024, he made four tackles on special teams in 18 games helping them reach the Grey Cup for the fifth consecutive season. In five seasons, Benson made seven tackles on special teams.
