The Toronto Argonauts released running back Khalan Laborn and fullback Brandon Calver on Sunday.
Khalan Laborn is five foot eleven and weighs 212 pounds. The 26-year-old from Virginia Beach, Virginia, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 12, 2025. He attended training camp and was released on May 14, 2025.
The Toronto Argonauts signed Laborn on July 2, 2025. In 2025, he had 18 carries for 58 yards and five catches for 36 yards in five games.
The Edmonton Elks signed Laborn on September 6, 2023, and he was placed on the practice squad. Laborn, along with defensive lineman Jake Ceresna, was traded to the Toronto Argonauts on January 15, 2024, for wide receiver Kurleigh Gittens Jr. and a 2024 seventh-round draft pick.
The Argonauts re-signed Laborn on February 15, 2024. He played two preseason games for the Argonauts with seven carries for 32 yards and one catch for four yards. The Argonauts released him on June 2, 2024. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Laborn on August 11, 2024. In 2024, he had 58 carries for 310 yards, one touchdown, 23 catches for 152 yards, and two tackles in six games.
Collegiately, Laborn played one season at Marshall University in 2022 with 302 carries for 1,513 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 16 catches for 116 yards in 13 games for the Thundering Herd.
Then, Laborn played three seasons at Florida State (2018-20) with 63 carries for 297 yards, four touchdowns, and 11 catches for 103 yards in 12 games for the Seminoles.
Brandon Calver is six foot three and weighs 220 pounds. The 32-year-old from London, Ontario, re-signed with the Toronto Argonauts on June 19, 2025. In 2025, he made three tackles on special teams in six games.
The Montreal Alouettes signed Calver on January 22, 2018. He played two seasons in Montreal making 13 tackles on special teams and one forced fumble in 12 games. In addition, he also played one game for the Ottawa Redblacks and five games for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The Toronto Argonauts signed Calver as a free agent on August 10, 2021. In 2021, he had one kick return for 13 yards in one game. In 2022, he made six tackles on special teams in six games helping them win the 109th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In 2023, he made nine tackles on special teams in 16 games.
In 2024, he made three tackles in eight games helping Toronto win the 111th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Argonauts released him on February 10, 2025.
Collegiately, Calver played five seasons at Wilfrid Laurier (2013-17) making 218 tackles (163 solos, 112 assists), 17.5 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, two interceptions for 22 yards, five pass breakups, four forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, and one blocked punt in 46 games for the Golden Hawks.
He helped the Golden Hawks win the Yates Cup in 2016, was named Second Team All-Star, and was a two-time Glenn Caroll Team of the Year.
