Donovan Walton drives in the only run of the game as IronPigs fall to the RailRiders

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (63-47, 17-19) played game four on Thursday night against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (66-32, 28-8) from Coca-Cola Park. Gabe Mosser (3-3, 6.08 ERA) was on the mound for Lehigh Valley against Allan Winans (9-0, 1.27 ERA) of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

At the top of the fourth inning, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre designated hitter T.J. Rumfield hit Mosser’s sinker for a two-run home run at 392 feet to right-center field for a 2-0 lead. It was Rumfield’s 14th home run of the season.

Lehigh Valley starter Gabe Mosser pitched 4.2 innings. He allowed six hits, two runs, two walks, and three strikeouts throwing 84 pitches, of which 49 were strikes.

Moving to the top of the eighth inning, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre center fielder Spencer Jones hit an RBI single to right field. Jorbit Vivas scored for a 3-0 lead. Then, catcher J.C. Escarra hit a sacrifice fly to left field. Spencer Jones scored to extend their lead to 4-0.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Lehigh Valley second baseman Donovan Walton hit an RBI double to left field. Justin Crawford scored, and the IronPigs trailed the RailRiders 4-1. Lehigh Valley’s offense was quiet in this game as they lost to the RailRiders 4-1. They finished the ball with five hits, committed one error, went 1 for 6 with runners in scoring position, and left six men on base.

The bullpen pitched 4.1 innings, allowing three hits, two runs, two walks, and seven strikeouts. The loss went to Lehigh Valley starter Gabe Mosser. It was his fourth loss of the season. The win went to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre starter Allan Winans for his tenth win of the season.
