The Toronto Argonauts signed running back Peny Boone and offensive linemen Ryan Sceviour and Brandon Kemp to the practice squad on Tuesday. The team also released linebacker Jarrett Martin.
Peny Boone is six foot one and weighs 232 pounds. The 23-year-old from Detroit, Michigan, attended the Carolina Panthers rookie minicamp in 2025.
Collegiately, Boone played two seasons at Maryland (2020-21) with 58 carries for 258 yards, two rushing touchdowns, five catches for 23 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 14 games for the Terrapins. Next, he transferred to Toledo (2022-23) with 310 carries for 1,843 yards, 18 rushing touchdowns, 25 catches for 303 yards, one touchdown, and one tackle (1 solo) in 26 games for the Rockets.
He was named First Team All-MAC and Offensive Player of the Year in 2023. That season, he had 194 yards for 1,400 yards, 15 rushing touchdowns, 15 catches for 219 yards, one touchdown, and one tackle (1 solo) in 13 games.
Then, Boone transferred to Louisville. However, he re-entered the transfer portal and went to the University of Central Florida in 2024. In 2024, he had 34 carries for 208 yards, two rushing touchdowns, and one catch for nine yards in six games for the Knights.
Ryan Sceviour is six foot four and weighs 300 pounds. The 30-year-old from Calgary, Alberta, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 16, 2024. In 2025, he played eight games.
Saskatchewan’s offense averaged 26.6 points per game, 355.7 net offense per game, 89.6 rushing yards per game, 278.8 passing yards per game, 45 touchdowns, and 35 sacks allowed finishing 9-8-1 in the regular season. They were eliminated in the Western Final against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The Calgary Stampeders drafted Sceviour in the first round (8th pick) of the 2018 CFL Draft. Sceviour played six seasons in Calgary playing 65 games. He was named a CFL West All-Star in 2022 and helped the Stampeders win the 106th Grey Cup over the Ottawa Redblacks in 2018 in Edmonton.
In 2023, he started 18 games for the Calgary Stampeders. Calgary’s offense ranked fourth in average points (21.8), sixth in average rushing yards (99.5), seventh in offensive touchdowns (33) and passing yards average (237.0), eighth in net offense average (321.5), and third in sacks allowed (34).
Collegiately, Sceviour played five seasons at the University of Calgary (2013-17) playing 44 games for the Dinos. In 2016, he caught one pass for 21 yards in the Hardy Cup against the University of British Columbia.
Brandon Kemp is six foot seven and weighs 310 pounds. The 28-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on January 7, 2025. In 2025, he played two preseason games. The Roughriders released him on May 31, 2025.
Kemp attended training camp for the Indianapolis Colts this year after spending two seasons with the Tennessee Titans. The Titans signed Kemp as an undrafted free agent in 2020, and he was on the practice squad. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Kemp on September 20, 2022. In 2022, he played one game.
In 2023, Kemp played eleven games for the Ticats. Hamilton’s offense finished seventh in points per game (22.7), fifth in offensive points per game (20.9), fifth in offensive touchdowns (35), fourth in net offense per game (352.0), seventh in rushing yards per game (96.7), and fourth in sacks allowed (46).
Kemp re-signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on December 14, 2023. In 2024, Kemp played one game against the Toronto Argonauts in Week 7 and spent the rest of the season on the practice squad.
In 2024, Hamilton’s offense averaged 27.5 points per game, 406.1 net offense per game, 86.6 rushing yards per game, 332.1 passing yards per game, and 30 sacks allowed finishing 7-11 for the season. The Ticats released him on October 26, 2024.
Collegiately, Kemp played 43 games in five seasons at Valdosta State (2015-19), helping Valdosta State finish the 2018 season undefeated and win the Division II National Championship over Ferris State 49-47. Valdosta State’s offense finished the year as the highest-scoring team (728 points), averaging 52 points per game.
Jarrett Martin is six foot three and weighs 220 pounds. The 25-year-old from Franklin, Massachusetts, went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Toronto Argonauts signed Martin on January 23, 2025. In 2025, he made six tackles and two tackles on special teams in four games.
Collegiately, Martin played four seasons at Rhode Island (2020-23) making 82 tackles (39 solos, 43 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, one interception for 16 yards, one touchdown, 10 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 31 games for the Rams.
In 2023, he made 34 tackles (22 solos, 12 assists), two tackles for loss, half a sack, and two pass breakups in nine games. In 2022, he was named Defensive Player of the Week on October 12, 2022, when he made five tackles (3 solos, 2 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, and one interception for 16 yards against Elon.
