The NASCAR Cup Series visited Iowa Speedway on Sunday afternoon in the Iowa Corn 350. Chase Briscoe started the race on the pole with William Byron starting second.

The race featured 12 cautions for 72 laps. Among the cautions, Shane van Gisbergen was involved in two of them on laps 171 and 264. Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Carson Hocevar, and Cody Ware were some of the other drivers involved in crashes.

William Byron led the opening 67 laps. He made a pit stop late in the first stage, and Brad Keselowski took the lead and won the stage. Keselowski also won the second stage.

Brad Keselowski and Ryan Blaney were on the front row to start the final stage. Ryan Blaney, Austin Cindric, and Chase Elliott all led laps. With the number of cautions that happened in the race, some teams went to pit road, while others gambled on fuel strategy.

William Byron was the leader on lap 277. With the laps getting shorter, along with more cautions, Byron was able to save fuel, and others ran out. In the final laps, Chase Briscoe and Brad Keselowski were chasing Byron hoping that Byron would run out of fuel.

That was not the case. Byron’s fuel strategy paid off as he won his second race of the season by 1.192 seconds over Chase Briscoe. Byron ran out of fuel during his celebratory burnouts on the frontstretch. Brad Keselowski, Ryan Blaney, and Ryan Preece rounded out the top five.

Bubba Wallace, Alex Bowman, Carson Hocevar, Joey Logano, and Austin Dillon rounded out the top ten. William Byron led the most laps in the race (141). There were 10 lead changes among six drivers.

The Cup Series heads to Watkins Glen International next Sunday at 2 pm on USA Network.
