The Toronto Argonauts signed fullback/wide receiver Felix Garand-Gauthier and linebacker Jordan Herdman-Reed to the practice squad on Tuesday. To make room, the Argonauts released running back Jyran Mitchell.
Felix Garand-Gauthier is six foot one and weighs 225 pounds. The 29-year-old from Mirabel, Quebec, re-signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on January 22, 2024. In 2024, he made one catch for two yards, one tackle, and 10 tackles on special teams in 13 games. The Ticats released him on May 2, 2025.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats drafted Garand-Gauthier in the fifth round (37th pick) of the 2021 CFL Draft. In four seasons, Garand-Gauthier had one carry for one yard, 16 catches for 246 yards, three tackles, and 31 tackles on special teams in 59 games for the Ticats.
Collegiately, Garand-Gauthier played two seasons at Laval University (2018-19) with 11 carries for 23 yards, three touchdowns, 12 catches for 152 yards, three touchdowns, and two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in 14 games for the Rouge Et Or. He was named U Sports Second Team All-Canadian in 2019. He helped the Rouge Et Or win the Vanier Cup in 2018.
Jordan Herdman-Reed is six foot and weighs 235 pounds. The 31-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba, made one tackle and one tackle on special teams in two preseason games. The Roughriders released him on May 31, 2025.
The B.C. Lions drafted Herdman-Reed in the seventh round (60th pick) in the 2017 CFL Draft. He played three seasons in British Columbia with 95 tackles, 44 tackles on special teams, three sacks, and one forced fumble in 52 games.
Then, Herdman-Reed signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 9, 2021. He played two seasons in Saskatchewan with one tackle and six tackles on special teams in 17 games. The Calgary Stampeders signed Herdman-Reed as a free agent on May 24, 2023. In 2023, he made ten tackles on special teams in 16 games.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders re-signed Herdman-Reed on February 13, 2024. In 2024, he made eight tackles on special teams in eight games.
Collegiately, Herdman-Reed played four seasons at Simon Fraser University (2013-16) making 226 tackles (94 solos, 132 assists), 15 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one interception, five pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 25 games for the Red Leafs.
Jyran Mitchell is six foot and weighs 205 pounds. The 25-year-old from Chicago, Illinois, went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Toronto Argonauts signed Mitchell on January 22, 2025.
In 2025, Mitchell had 11 carries for 118 yards, one touchdown, and three catches for 27 yards in two preseason games to earn a spot on the practice squad. The Argonauts released him on June 10, 2025. He re-signed with the Argonauts on July 21, 2025, and spent a week on the practice squad.
Collegiately, Mitchell played two seasons at Northern Illinois (2018-19) with two carries for -2 yards, one kick return for 25 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in nine games for the Huskies.
Next, he transferred to Eastern Kentucky University (2021-22) with one carry for three yards, completing 1of 2 passes (50%) for 42 yards, 38 catches for 428 yards, two touchdowns, one kick return for 14 yards, and seven tackles (7 solos) in 21 games for the Colonels.
Then, he transferred to Butler in 2023 with 199 carries for 1,268 yards, 12 touchdowns, completed 3 of 3 passes (100%) for 23 yards, 23 catches for 202 yards, and three touchdowns in 11 games for the Bulldogs. He was named First Team All-Pioneer League, the Pioneer League Offensive Player of the Year, and a finalist for the Walter Peyton Award.
