The Birmingham Stallions released defensive back Steven Gilmore on Saturday as he is signing with an NFL team according to the UFL Transactions page.

Steven Gilmore is six foot and weighs 174 pounds. The 25-year-old from Rock Hill, South Carolina, signed with the Birmingham Stallions on January 16, 2025. In 2025, he made 40 tackles (31 solos, 9 assists), one tackle for loss, one interception for 13 yards, and 10 pass breakups in 10 games. In the playoffs, he made eight tackles (6 solos, 2 assists) and one forced fumble.

The Detroit Lions signed Gilmore as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. In 2023, he made 10 tackles (5 solos, 5 assists), two interceptions for 24 yards, and four pass breakups in three preseason games. He dressed for three regular-season games but saw no action.

In 2024, Gilmore made seven tackles (7 solos) and one pass breakup in three preseason games. The Lions released him on August 27, 2024.

Collegiately, Gilmore played five seasons at Marshall (2018-22) making 200 tackles (124 solos, 76 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, nine interceptions for 124 yards, one touchdown, 44 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and four punt returns for 26 yards in 60 games for the Thundering Herd. He was named First Team All-CUSA in 2020, Second Team All-CUSA in 2021, and Second Team All-Sun Belt in 2022.
