The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed linebacker Daniel Kwamou and defensive back Ronan Horrall to the practice squad on Wednesday. To make room, they released running back Shane Watts and linebacker Ozzie Nicholas.
Daniel Kwamou is six foot and weighs 224 pounds. The 25-year-old from Calgary, Alberta, made one tackle and two tackles on special teams in two preseason games. In the regular season, Kwamou made two tackles on special teams in four games. The Argonauts released him on July 15, 2025.
The Toronto Argonauts drafted Kwamou in the fifth round (44th pick) of the 2022 CFL Draft. He was released at the end of training camp to return to UBC for his final season. The Argonauts re-signed him on June 3, 2023.
In 2023, he made six tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in one preseason game. In the regular season, he made eight tackles on special teams in nine games. In 2024, he missed the season due to an injury when they won the 111th Grey Cup.
Collegiately, Kwamou played four seasons at the University of British Columbia (2018-19, 2021-22) making 108 tackles (64 solos, 44 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, one interception, and three pass breakups in 26 games for the Thunderbirds.
Ronan Horrall is six foot one and weighs 202 pounds. The 22-year-old from Ottawa, Ontario, was drafted by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the sixth round (48th pick) of the 2025 CFL Draft. He did not play in the 2025 preseason and was released on May 31, 2025.
Collegiately, Horrall played four seasons at the University of British Columbia (2021-24) making 32 tackles (15 solos, 17 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, two interceptions for 20 yards, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 25 games for the Thunderbirds.
Then, he transferred to the University of Alberta (2023-24) making 51 tackles (43 solos, 8 assists), one tackle for loss, two interceptions for 30 yards, eight pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries in 12 games for the Golden Bears. He was named a Canada West All-Star and Second Team U-Sports All-Canadian in 2024.
Shane Watts is five foot nine and weighs 195 pounds. A native of De Soto, Kansas, Watts attended the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie minicamp in 2025. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Watts on July 16, 2025. He spent a week on the practice squad.
Collegiately, Watts played four seasons at Fort Hayes State University (2021-24) with 334 carries for 1,979 yards, 18 rushing touchdowns, 61 catches for 606 yards, five touchdowns, one kick return for 17 yards, 18 tackles (14 solos, 4 assists), and one pass breakup in 44 games for the Tigers.
In 2024, he had 223 carries for 1,303 yards, 13 rushing touchdowns, 41 catches for 449 yards, four touchdowns, and one kick return for 17 yards in 11 games. Watts was named First Team All-MIAA, Second Team All-MIAA, Second Team All-American by AP, D2CCA, and the Don Hansen Football Committee. He was the first player in school history to with back-to-back 200-yard rushing games against Missouri Southern and Emporia State.
Ozzie Nicholas is six foot two and weighs 225 pounds. A native of Encinitas, California, Nicholas attended the Atlanta Falcons rookie minicamp in 2025. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Nicholas on June 21, 2025. He spent two months on the practice squad.
Collegiately, Nicholas played three seasons at Princeton (2021-23) making 179 tackles (82 solos, 97 assists), 10.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, one interception for 13 yards, five pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 27 games for the Tigers.
He was named First Team All-Ivy League in 2023, Second Team All-Ivy League in 2022, STATS Perform FCS Third Team All-American, PFF FCS All-American, BlueBloods First Team All-Ivy League, and First Team All-Ivy League by Phil Steele.
Then, he transferred to Duke in 2024 making 100 tackles (40 solos, 60 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, one interception for 29 yards, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 13 games for the Blue Devils. He was named Third Team All-ACC in 2024.
