The Toronto Argonauts released running back Kevin Brown, and linebackers Donald Rutledge Jr. and Daniel Kwamou on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Kevin Brown is five foot nine and weighs 205 pounds. The 28-year-old from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, signed with the Toronto Argonauts on December 13, 2024. In 2025, he had two carries for six yards and one catch for 13 yards in one preseason game.
The Argonauts released him on May 31, 2025, and he re-signed with them on June 17, 2025. Brown had 18 carries for 37 yards, one rushing touchdown, and five catches for 32 yards in three games.
The Edmonton Elks signed Brown on November 22, 2022. He played three seasons in Edmonton with 361 carries for 2,149 yards, 5 touchdowns, 74 catches for 536 yards, and one touchdown in 37 games. In 2024, he had 101 carries for 522 yards, and 22 catches for 138 yards in 12 games. The Elks released Brown on October 26, 2024.
Collegiately, Brown played two seasons at Highland Community College (2017-18) with 182 carries for 1,130 yards, 8 touchdowns, 24 catches for 91 yards, two touchdowns, and two tackles (2 solo) in 14 games for the Scotties. He was named Second Team All-KJCCC in 2018.
Then, Brown transferred to Incarnate Word (2019-21) with 353 carries for 2,451 yards, 20 touchdowns, 66 catches for 623 laps, and four touchdowns in 31 games for the Cardinals. He was named First Team All-Southland Conference.
Donald Rutledge Jr. is five foot eleven and weighs 180 pounds. The 28-year-old from Bronx, New York, signed with the Toronto Argonauts on December 16, 2024. In 2025, he made four tackles and one tackle on special teams. In the regular season, Rutledge Jr. made four tackles in one game.
The Indianapolis Colts signed Rutledge Jr. as an undrafted free agent on April 29, 2020, and released him on September 5, 2020. Next, he signed with the Arizona Cardinals on January 20, 2021. The Cardinals released him on August 11, 2021.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed Rutledge Jr. on March 24, 2022. In 2022, he made 58 tackles, two tackles on special teams, two sacks, one interception, and one fumble recovery in 16 games helping the Blue Bombers reach the 109th Grey Cup.
The Houston Gamblers (USFL) signed Rutledge Jr. on December 22, 2022. In 2023, he made 38 tackles (27 solos, 11 assists) in seven games before he was placed on injured reserve on May 30, 2023, and missed the rest of the season.
In 2024, he made 55 tackles (32 solos, 23 assists), three tackles for loss, one interception, three pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 10 games. The Roughriders released him on July 24, 2024.
Collegiately, Rutledge Jr. played two seasons at Savannah State (2017-18) making 134 tackles (76 solos, 58 assists), two tackles for loss, four interceptions for 115 yards, 19 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two punt returns for 45 yards in 21 games for the Tigers.
Then, Rutledge Jr. transferred to Georgia Southern in 2019 making 50 tackles (34 solos, 16 assists), one tackle for loss, one interception for 42 yards, one touchdown, and six pass breakups in 12 games for the Eagles.
Daniel Kwamou is six foot and weighs 224 pounds. The 25-year-old from Calgary, Alberta, made one tackle and two tackles on special teams in two preseason games. In the regular season, Kwamou made two tackles on special teams in four games.
The Toronto Argonauts drafted Kwamou in the fifth round (44th pick) of the 2022 CFL Draft. He was released at the end of training camp to return to UBC for his final season. The Argonauts re-signed him on June 3, 2023.
In 2023, he made six tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in one preseason game. In the regular season, he made eight tackles on special teams in nine games. In 2024, he missed the season due to an injury when they won the 111th Grey Cup.
Collegiately, Kwamou played four seasons at the University of British Columbia (2018-19, 2021-22) making 108 tackles (64 solos, 44 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, one interception, and three pass breakups in 26 games for the Thunderbirds.
