The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship visited Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on Sunday in the Chevrolet Grand Prix. The No. 99 AO Racing Oreca car of P.J. Hyett and Dane Cameron started on the pole for LMP2.
The No. 1 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3 EVO of Neil Verhagen and Madison Snow was on the pole in GTD Pro, and the No. 12 Vasser Sullivan Racing Lexus RC F GT3 of Jack Hawksworth and Parker Thompson started on the pole in GTD.
The No. 99 AO Racing Oreca LMP2 07 controlled the race as they built a 15-second lead. However, that lead went away when Tom Dillmann of the No. 43 Inter Europol Competition Oreca undercut Dane Cameron on the final pit stop.
Before taking the lead, Dillmann passed a couple of cars to get second place, and he pitted early to kick off the final pit stop cycles, forcing the rest of the field to go to pit road.
Unfortunately, in the closing laps of the race, the No. 43 Inter Europol Competition Oreca crashed into the tire wall with under 10 minutes left, and the race ended under caution.
Dane Cameron was the new leader. He led the No. 99 AO Racing Oreca LMP2 to victory in LMP2. The No. 81 DragonSpeed Ferrari 296 of Albert Costa and Giacomo Altoè won in GTD Pro, and the No. 45 Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 of Danny Formal and Trent Hindman won in GTD.
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship heads to Road America on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 2 pm on Peacock and YouTube.
