Connor Zilisch scores his third win of the season at Sonoma Raceway

The NASCAR Xfinity Series visited Sonoma Raceway on Saturday in the Pit Boss/FoodMaxx 250. Shane van Gisbergen started the race on the pole, and Connor Zilisch started second.

Shane van Gisbergen led the opening two laps before Zilisch passed him at Turn 2 for the lead. Connor led two laps before Gisbergen took the lead back. The two would combine to lead 13 laps and made pit stops in the closing stages of stage one. Sam Mayer won the first stage.

Zilisch and Gisbergen were on the front row to start the second stage. The two would trade the lead four times leading a combined 21 laps. With two laps to go in the second stage, both drivers went to pit road. Brandon Jones went on to win the second stage.

Connor Zilisch and Shane van Gisbergen were on the front row to start the final stage. Gisbergen was chasing Zilisch in the closing laps. Gisbergen bumped Zilisch entering turn four, but Zilisch saved the car. Connor went on to win the race by 0.438 seconds over Gisbergen.

William Sawalich, Nick Sanchez, and Riley Herbst rounded out the top five. Justin Allgaier, Taylor Gray, Carson Kvapil, Sammy Smith, and Sheldon Creed rounded out the top ten. There were two cautions for seven laps. Connor Zilisch led a total of 46 laps and Gisbergen led 24 laps.

The Xfinity Series heads to Dover Motor Speedway next Saturday at 4:30 pm on The CW.
