Alex Palou scores his seventh win of the season at Iowa Speedway

The NTT IndyCar Series concluded the doubleheader at Iowa Speedway on Sunday in the Farm to Finish 275 powered by Sukup. Alex Palou started the race on the pole, and Felix Rosenqvist started second. Nolan Siegel did not compete in this race as he was not cleared after his crash in Saturday’s race.

On the first lap, Devlin DeFrancesco got loose at Turn 4 and collected Scott McLaughlin. It was one of five cautions throughout this race. On lap 21, Will Power’s car suffered a mechanical failure and was out of the race. He finished in 24th place.

Alex Palou led the opening 64 laps before making a pit stop on lap 65. Josef Newgarden took over the lead. Newgarden led up to lap 128 before he made a pit stop, and Alex Palou was the new leader. On lap 130, Marcus Ericsson’s car blew a left-front tire.

Alex Palou continued to lead when Callum Ilott spun before making contact with the wall at Turn 4. Alex Palou made a pit stop during the caution, and Kyle Kirkwood was the new leader. When the race resumed on lap 190, Kirkwood led two laps before Palou passed him for the lead.

Palou continued to lead until lap 240 when Josef Newgarden blew by him for the lead. Newgarden has restarted third. He led eight laps. As he was entering pit road on lap 249, Colton Herta blew a left-front tire and made contact with the wall at Turn 3.

Alex Palou was the new leader. Palou would lead the final 26 laps to win his seventh race of the season by 0.5280 seconds over Scott Dixon. Marcus Armstrong, David Malukas, and Pato O’Ward rounded out the top five. Christian Lundgaard, Felix Rosenqvist, Christian Rasmussen, Robert Shwartzman, and Josef Newgarden rounded out the top ten.

Alex Palou led 194 laps, Josef Newgarden led 72 laps, and Kyle Kirkwood led nine laps. There were six lead changes, and 382 passes, of which 229 were for positions.

The NTT IndyCar Series heads to the streets of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, next Sunday at noon on Fox.
