
The Ottawa Redblacks signed wide receiver Easop Winston Jr. and defensive back Shakur Brown to the practice squad on Wednesday.
Easop Winston Jr. is five foot eleven and weighs 190 pounds. The 28-year-old from San Francisco, California, signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2020. He was released on September 20, 2020. Next, he signed with the New Orleans Saints on May 14, 2021.
In 2021, he made one catch for 35 yards and four punt returns for 64 yards in two preseason games. In the regular season, he made one catch for five yards in three games. In 2022, he made one catch for 12 yards in one preseason game. The Saints released him on August 15, 2022.
He would also have stops with the Cleveland Browns, Seattle Seahawks, and the New York Jets making 14 catches for 201 yards, two touchdowns, and three punt returns for 31 yards in five preseason games.
Collegiately, Winston Jr. played two seasons at the City College of San Francisco (2015-16) making 133 catches for 2,157 yards, 24 touchdowns, one punt return for one yard, and two tackles (2 solos) in 22 games for the Rams. Then, he transferred to Washington State (2018-19) making 125 catches for 1,419 yards, 16 touchdowns, two punt returns for 74 yards, and one tackle in 23 games for the Cougars. He was named an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention in 2019.
Shakur Brown is five foot eleven and weighs 190 pounds. The 26-year-old from Stockbridge, Georgia, signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on April 10, 2025. In 2025, he made three tackles, two tackles on special teams, and three pass breakups in two preseason games. The Redblacks released him on May 31, 2025.
The Pittsburgh Steelers signed Brown as an undrafted free agent on May 7, 2021. He also had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions. On April 22, 2022, Brown signed with the Pittsburgh Maulers (USFL) making 36 tackles (23 solos, 13 assists), one tackle for loss, and one pass breakup in nine games.
After Pittsburgh, Brown signed with the Tennessee Titans but was waived from injured reserve. The Arlington Renegades signed Brown as a free agent on May 16, 2023. In 2023, he made 34 tackles (17 solos, 17 assists), one tackle for loss, three pass breakups, and one interception in nine games.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Brown on April 10, 2024. In 2024, he made six tackles in two preseason games. The Ticats released him on June 1, 2024.
Collegiately, Brown played three seasons at Michigan State (2018-20) making 54 tackles (38 solos, 16 assists), two tackles for loss, seven interceptions for 186 yards, one touchdown, and 16 pass breakups in 26 games for the Spartans. He finished his career ranked eighth in MSU history with 186 interception return yards.
