The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (52-35) and the Syracuse Mets (42-47) played game two on Wednesday night from NBT Bank Stadium. Gabe Mosser (3-3, 7.16 ERA) was on the mound for Lehigh Valley against Nolan McLean (3-4, 2.80 ERA) of Syracuse.
The game was scoreless through six innings, until Lehigh Valley shortstop Donovan Walton hit an RBI single to left field scoring Cal Stevenson for a 1-0 lead at the top of the seventh inning. It was his 41st RBI of the season.
Lehigh Valley starter Gabe Mosser did a good job on the mound. He pitched six innings, allowing three hits, one walk, and four strikeouts throwing 84 pitches, of which 55 were strikes.
Adonis Medina pitched the seventh inning throwing six pitches, of which three were strikes, and Nolan Hoffman pitched the eighth inning with two strikeouts throwing 10 pitches, of which eight were strikes. Guillo Zuñiga pitched for Lehigh Valley in the bottom of the ninth inning.
After walking two batters in a row, Syracuse center fielder Drew Gilbert tied the game with an RBI single to right field scoring Gilberto Celestino. Then, designated hitter Joey Meneses ended the game with an RBI single to left field scoring Pablo Reyes. The IronPigs lost their fourth game in a row by the final score of 2-1.
Lehigh Valley finished the night with five hits, went 1 for 4 with runners in scoring position, and left six men on base. The loss went to Lehigh Valley relief pitcher Guillo Zuñiga. It was his first loss of the season, while the win went to Syracuse relief pitcher Julian Merryweather.
The IronPigs and Mets play game three on Thursday at 6:35 pm.
