
The B.C. Lions signed offensive lineman Hunter Steward and defensive back Cameron Stone to the practice squad on Wednesday. They also released defensive back Jaylin Williams from the practice squad.
Hunter Steward is six foot six and weighs 315 pounds. The 33-year-old from Calgary, Alberta, signed with the Edmonton Elks on April 9, 2024. In 2024, Steward played 16 games.
Edmonton’s offense averaged 28 points per game, 390.3 net offense per game, 131.4 rushing yards per game, 271.7 passing yards per game, and 29 sacks allowed finishing 7-11 in the 2024 season.
The Ottawa Redblacks signed Steward as a free agent on February 16, 2023. He played 18 games for the Redblacks at left guard in 2022. Before Ottawa, the B.C. Lions drafted Steward in the first round (6th pick) in the 2013 CFL Draft. Steward played 89 games in seven seasons with the Lions.
In 2023, he played 17 games. Ottawa’s offense finished sixth in average points (20.7), tied seventh in offensive touchdowns (33), last in average net offense (318.8), second in average rushing yards (127.6), last in average passing yards (220.4), and last in sacks allowed (71).
Collegiately, Steward played three seasons at Liberty University (2010-12) playing left tackle for the Flames. He spent his first season as a defensive lineman before switching to the offensive line a year later.
Cameron Stone is five foot ten and weighs 180 pounds. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Stone attended the Seattle Seahawks rookie minicamp in 2025.
Collegiately, Stone played three seasons at Wyoming (2020-22) making 45 tackles (32 solos, 13 assists), one tackle for loss, two interceptions for 38 yards, one touchdown, 10 pass breakups, one forced fumble, 12 kick returns for 354 yards, one touchdown, and one punt return for one yard in 28 games for the Cowboys. He was an All-MWC Honorable Mention by PFF in 2021.
Then, he transferred to Hawaii (2023-24) making 62 tackles (44 solos, 18 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions for 21 yards, 17 pass breakups, one forced fumble, one blocked punt, one punt return for 14 yards, and 16 kick returns for 331 yards in 23 games for the Rainbow Warriors.
Jaylin Williams is five foot ten and weighs 195 pounds. The 25-year-old from Southaven, Mississippi, signed with the B.C. Lions on February 11, 2025. In 2025, he made four tackles in one preseason game. He spent over a month on the practice squad.
The Minnesota Vikings signed Williams as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. In 2023, he made eight tackles (6 solos, 2 assists) and two pass breakups in three preseason games. Williams played three regular season games making one tackle (1 solo).
In 2024, he made eight tackles (3 solos, 5 assists) in three preseason games. The Vikings released him on September 10, 2024.
Collegiately, Williams played five seasons at Indiana (2018-22) making 155 tackles (120 solos, 35 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, six interceptions for 124 yards, 30 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one blocked kick in 55 games for the Hoosiers.
