
The NASCAR Xfinity Series visited the streets of Chicago, Illinois, on Saturday afternoon in The Loop 110. Shane van Gisbergen started the race on the pole with Connor Zilisch starting second.
Shane van Gisbergen led 27 laps, including winning the first stage, and led the final two laps. His car was experiencing engine issues early in the race, but he managed to hang on. He pushed Zilisch wide into Turn 1 to win the race by 0.823 seconds.
Connor Zilisch, Sheldon Creed, Austin Hill, and Nick Sanchez rounded up the top five. Zilisch led 11 laps and Creed led 9 laps. Creed also won the second stage. Jesse Love, Sammy Smith, Sam Mayer, Austin Green, and Brennan Poole rounded up the top ten.
There were four lead changes among three drivers, and six cautions for 18 laps. Among the drivers involved was Repco Supercars Championship driver Jack Perkins, who suffered back-end damage in Turn 6 and finished in 32nd place. Six drivers did not finish the race. They were Taylor Gray, Andre Castro, Josh Bilicki, Anthony Alfredo, William Sawalich, and Ryan Sieg.
The Xfinity Series heads to Sonoma Raceway next Saturday at 4:30 pm on The CW.
