Ottawa Redblacks release OL Darta Lee, sign two players

The Ottawa Redblacks released offensive lineman Darta Lee, and signed offensive lineman D.J. Jones and defensive lineman Baptiste Pollier to the practice squad on Wednesday.

Darta Lee is six foot three and weighs 313 pounds. The 27-year-old from Alief, Texas, re-signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on November 4, 2024. In 2025, he played four games for the Redblacks.

Lee signed with the Arlington Renegades on March 1, 2023, and was released on April 26, 2023. He later signed with the Memphis Showboats on May 9, 2023, and appeared in one game before spending the rest of the season on injured reserve.

The Toronto Argonauts signed Lee on April 24, 2024. He played left tackle in two preseason games before the Argonauts released him on June 2, 2024. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Lee on September 18, 2024, and spent two months on the practice squad. The Redblacks released him on November 1, 2024.

Collegiately, Lee played at Illinois in 2016 playing guard in six games for the Fighting Illini. He was the first Illini true freshman to start on the offensive line in the season opener in at least 20 seasons. Next, Lee transferred to Kilgore College in 2017 finishing the season averaging 368.1 yards per game, 268.4 rushing yards per game, 199.7 passing yards per game, and 26.2 points per game.

Then, Lee transferred to UTEP (2018-20) playing left tackle in 30 games for the Miners. In 2020, UTEP’s offensive line helped pave the way for a rushing attack that scored 16 touchdowns and surpassed 1,000 yards on the season.

D.J. Jones is six foot five and weighs 310 pounds. The 23-year-old from Jackson, Alabama, attended the Buffalo Bills rookie minicamp in 2025.

Collegiately, Jones played four seasons at Murray State (2020-23) playing right tackle in 30 games for the Racers. In 2023, Murray State averaged 16.64 points per game, 115.5 rushing yards per game, 176.27 passing yards per game, 291.7 total yards per game, 22 touchdowns, and allowed 22 sacks finishing 2-9 for the season.

Then, he transferred to the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2024 playing right tackle in 11 games for the Blazers. UAB averaged 26.2 points per game, 130.9 rushing yards per game, 261.6 passing yards per game, 392.5 total yards per game, 33 touchdowns, and allowed 32 sacks finishing 3-9 for the season.

Baptiste Pollier is six foot four and weighs 250 pounds. The 27-year-old from Grenoble, France, re-signed with the Toronto Argonauts on November 25, 2024. In 2025, he made one tackle on special teams in two preseason games. The Argonauts released him on May 31, 2025.

Pollier played handball before taking up football for the Centaures de Grenoble in France’s top division. The Toronto Argonauts signed Pollier on July 15, 2024, and spent the season on the practice squad. The Argonauts released him on November 18, 2024.

Then, Pollier made his way to U Sports playing two seasons at the University of Ottawa (2021-23) making 42 tackles (23 solos, 19 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one interception for 15 yards in 16 games for the Gee-Gees.
