
The Edmonton Elks signed defensive lineman Tyreek Johnson to the practice squad on Wednesday.
Tyreek Johnson is six foot four and weighs 283 pounds. The 26-year-old from Sumter, South Carolina, signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent on May 3, 2024. The Jets released him on June 6, 2024.
Collegiately, Johnson played five seasons at South Carolina (2019-23) making 29 tackles (15 solos, 14 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery in 26 games, of which four were starts for the Gamecocks.
Johnson was named a four-time SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll (2019-22), Gamecock Toughness Award, co-President’s Outstanding Student, NFF Hampshire Honor Society, and CSC Academic All-District in 2023.
