The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (46-26) played game three against the Rochester Red Wings (25-45) on Thursday night from Coca-Cola Park. Nabil Crismatt (4-4, 4.06 ERA) was on the mound for Lehigh Valley against Chase Solesky (2-5, 4.65 ERA) of Rochester.
After last night’s game, the Philadelphia Phillies called up infielder Buddy Kennedy and sent infielder Weston Wilson to Lehigh Valley. The game started with an hour and 13-minute rain delay.
At the top of the first inning, Rochester catcher Drew Millas hit Crismatt’s curveball for a solo home at 414 feet to right-center field for a 1-0 lead. It was Millas’s fourth home run of the season. Moving to the top of the sixth inning, Rochester right fielder Nick Schnell hit a two-run opposite field home run to left-center field extending their lead to 3-0.
Lehigh Valley had not scored a run in 24 innings until the bottom of the sixth inning. With the bases loaded and one out, right fielder Gabriel Rincones Jr. was hit by a pitch scoring Oscar Mercado and it was now 3-1. Rochester replaced Solesky with Patrick Weigel. Cal Stevenson and Nick Dunn could not bring in more runs and trailed Rochester 3-1.
For the second consecutive inning, Lehigh Valley had the bases loaded with one out. Lehigh Valley catcher Garrett Stubbs hit into a double play and the inning was over. At the top of the eighth inning, Rochester shortstop Jackson Cluff hit an RBI double to right field scoring Yohandy Morales for a 4-1 lead.
At the top of the ninth inning, Rochester right fielder Nick Schnell hit a two-run RBI single to center field making it 6-1. Lehigh Valley’s offense had six hits on their way to losing again to the Rochester Red Wings by the final score of 6-1. Lehigh Valley went 0 for 10 with runners in scoring position and left 10 runners on base.
Lehigh Valley has now lost three games in a row and has now lost nine of their last twelve games. Their lead in the East Division is now at a half-game with Jacksonville’s game being suspended due to rain. The Jumbo Shrimp led 3-0 against Syracuse and will play a doubleheader tomorrow.
The loss went to Lehigh Valley starter Nabil Crismatt for his fifth loss of the season. He pitched five innings, allowing six hits, one run, and five strikeouts throwing 81 pitches, of which 55 were strikes. The win went to Rochester starter Chase Solesky. The IronPigs will look to get back on the winning track against the Red Wings on Friday at 7:05 pm.
