The Birmingham Stallions released defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey on Wednesday as he is signing with an NFL team. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2, Winfrey is signing a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys.

Perrion Winfrey is six foot four and weighs 292 pounds. The 24-year-old from Maywood, Illinois, signed with the Birmingham Stallions on October 3, 2024. In 2025, he made 29 tackles (17 solos, 12 assists), two tackles for loss, one sack, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 10 games. In the 2025 USFL Conference Championship Game against Michigan, Winfrey made four tackles (2 solos, 2 assists), one tackle for loss, and one sack.

The Cleveland Browns drafted Winfrey in the fourth round (108th pick) of the 2022 NFL Draft. He played one season in Cleveland making 22 tackles (8 solos, 14 assists), one tackle for loss, half a sack, and two pass breakups in 13 games. The Browns released him on July 19, 2023.

Next, Winfrey signed with the New York Jets on November 7, 2023. In 2023, Winfrey made three tackles (1 solo, 2 assists) in one game. The Jets released him on December 4, 2023.

Collegiately, Winfrey played two seasons at Iowa Western Community College (2018-19) making 55 tackles (37 solos, 18 assists), 23 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, one forced fumble, two pass breakups, and three blocked kicks in 18 games for the Reivers.

Then, Winfrey transferred to Oklahoma (2020-21) making 42 tackles (20 solos, 22 assists), 17 tackles for loss, six sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one blocked kick in 23 games for the Sooners.
