D.C. Defenders crush the Michigan Panthers to win the 2025 UFL Championship

The D.C. Defenders of the XFL Conference and the Michigan Panthers of the USFL Conference clashed on Saturday night from The Dome at America’s Center for the 2025 UFL Championship.

D.C.’s offense put up 580 yards led by quarterback Jordan Ta’amu completing 21 of 28 passes for 390 yards, four touchdowns, eight carries for 28 yards, and one rushing touchdown leading the Defenders to a 58-34 win over the Panthers. It was D.C.’s first championship and Ta’amu was named the MVP.

Running back Deon Jackson had 11 carries for 46 yards, and two touchdowns, while Abram Smith had 10 carries for 63 yards. Wide receiver Jaydon Mickens led the receivers making six catches for 132 yards, and one touchdown, while Ty Scott made one catch for 73 yards and one touchdown.

Kicker Matt McCrane made two field goals with a long of 38 yards. The defense made 44 tackles, one tackle for loss, two sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble.

Michigan had 434 yards of offense led by quarterback Bryce Perkins completing 21 of 35 passes (60%) for 338 yards, four touchdowns, one interception, and four carries for eight yards. Running back Nate McCrary had six carries for 62 yards, and one rushing touchdown.

Wide receiver Malik Turner led the receivers making 10 catches for 168 yards, and three touchdowns, while Siaosi Mariner made four catches for 84 yards, and one touchdown. Kicker B.T. Potter made one field goal for 49 yards. The defense made 60 tackles, one sack, two pass breakups, and three forced fumbles.
