
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (45-22) played game four against the Worcester Red Sox (36-30) on Friday night at Coca-Cola Park. Nabil Crismatt (4-4, 4.32 ERA) was on the mound for Lehigh Valley against Cooper Criswell (2-1, 1.52 ERA).
At the top of the second inning, Worcester left fielder Tyler McDonough hit an RBI single to right field scoring Blaze Jordan for a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the second inning, Lehigh Valley shortstop Rodolfo Castro hit a two-run RBI double to left field scoring Payton Henry and Rafael Lantigua for a 2-1 lead. It was Castro’s 11th double of the season.
Moving to the top of the seventh inning, Worcester left fielder Tyler McDonough hit an RBI bunt single to third baseman Erick Brito scoring Nate Eaton, and the game was tied 2-2.
At the top of the tenth inning, Worcester catcher Seby Zavala grounded into a double play scoring Trayce Thompson for a 3-2 lead. In the bottom of the tenth inning, Lehigh Valley had runners on the corners with catcher Payton Henry up to bat. He hit the game-winning two-run RBI double to left scoring Buddy Kennedy and Gabriel Rincones Jr. for a 4-3 win.
With the win, Lehigh Valley’s magic number to clinch the First-Half Division is now five games. Lehigh Valley catcher Payton Henry went 3 for 5 with two singles, a double, and two RBIs. Lehigh Valley shortstop Rodolfo Castro went 2 for 4 with two singles and two RBIs.
Lehigh Valley starter Nabil Crismatt pitched six innings, allowing three hits, one run, one walk, and three strikeouts throwing 70 pitches, of which 50 were strikes. The win went to Lehigh Valley relief pitcher Daniel Robert for his first win of the season. He pitched two innings, allowing one run and one strikeout throwing 20 pitches, of which 17 were strikes. The loss went to Worcester relief pitcher Isaiah Campbell.
