
The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed offensive lineman Caleb Barajas and linebacker Kenten Effa to the practice squad. Both players currently play for the Regina Thunder (CJFL). As junior-eligible players, they will remain with the Thunder while practicing with the Roughriders.
Caleb Barajas is six foot four and weighs 285 pounds. The 21-year-old from Ventura, California, was named Second Team All-Canadian last year. In 2024, Regina averaged 34.5 points per game, 421.25 yards per game, 242.5 passing yards per game, 178.8 rushing yards per game, and 28 touchdowns finishing 6-2 for the season.
Collegiately, Barajas played two seasons at Ventura College (2021-22) playing 12 games for the Buccaneers. In 2022, he was named First Team All-WSC. Ventura College averaged 29.9 points per game, 363.4 yards per game, 213.2 passing yards per game, 150.2 rushing yards per game, and 38 touchdowns finishing 7-4 for the season. In 2023, he transferred to Fresno State but did not see any action.
Kenten Effa is six foot and weighs 215 pounds. The 21-year-old from Regina, Saskatchewan, is entering his fifth season with Regina. In four seasons (2021-24), Effa has made 187 tackles (102 solos, 85 assists), 20 tackles on special teams (13 solos, 7 assists), eight sacks, and one interception in 37 games.
