Edmonton Elks release WR Alexander Hollins, 26 others

The Edmonton Elks released 27 players, including wide receiver Alexander Hollins on Saturday as part of the CFL’s final cuts.

Alexander Hollins is six foot and weighs 175 pounds. The 28-year-old from Yazoo City, Mississippi, signed with the Edmonton Elks on April 28, 2025. Hollins did not play in the preseason in 2025.

The Minnesota Vikings signed Hollins as an undrafted free agent on April 29, 2019. In 2019, Hollins made two catches for 46 yards in five games, of which one was a start. On December 28, 2020, the Cleveland Browns signed Hollins off of Minnesota’s practice squad. The Browns released him on December 21, 2021.

The B.C. Lions signed Hollins as a free agent on February 17, 2022. In 2022, Hollins made 13 catches for 117 yards, and one touchdown in four games. In 2023, Hollins made 78 catches for 1,173 yards, nine touchdowns, and one carry for 11 yards in 18 games for the Lions in 2023. He was named a CFL West All-Star after the season.

In 2024, he made 61 catches for 937 yards and six touchdowns in 16 games. The Lions released him on January 30, 2025.

Collegiately, Hollins played two seasons at Copiah-Lincoln Community College (2015-16) making 26 catches for 474 yards, five touchdowns, two carries for 12 yards, and 16 kick returns for 357 yards in 17 games for the Wolves.

Then, he transferred to Eastern Illinois University (2017-18) making 126 catches for 1,784 yards, 23 touchdowns, eight carries for 62 yards, and four kick returns for 57 yards in 22 games for the Panthers. He was named First Team All-OVC and First Team All-American by Phil Steele in 2018.

The following players were also released. They are running backs Artavis Pierce and DeWayne McBride, fullback Jacob Plamondon, wide receivers Jackson Tachinski, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, J.J. Laap, and Kolby Hurford, offensive linemen Cole Birdow, Clayton Bradley, Wyatt Hansen, Daniel Hocevar, Domenico Piazza, and Grant Smith, defensive linemen Luquay Washington Jr., Reece Martin, Charles Looes, Quincy Ledet Jr., and Shakel Brown, linebackers Clayton Isbell and Brock Mogensen, defensive backs Roterius Torrence, Romeo Nash, Marcus Lewis, Jerrell Cummings, Demetries Ford, and kicker Bradyn Narveson.

The following players were placed on the practice squad. They are running back Isaiah Knight, fullback Bradley Hladik, wide receivers Jalon Calhoun, Kearis Jackson, and Tyson Middlemost, offensive linemen Jaxon Morkin and Greg Eiland, defensive lineman Francis Bemiy, linebacker Alex Raich, and defensive backs J.J. Ross and Kenny Logan Jr.

The Elks also placed quarterback Will McElvain on the suspended list.
