
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship visited the streets of Detroit, Michigan, on Saturday afternoon in the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic.
The No. 93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb Agajanian driven by Renger van der Zande and Nick Yelloly started the race on the pole in GTP, while the No. 64 Ford Multimatic Motorsports of Mike Rockenfeller and Sebastian Priaulx started on the pole in GTD Pro.
With 15 minutes left, Wayne Taylor Racing driver Ricky Taylor passed Felipe Nasr of Porsche Penske for the lead. However, Taylor was challenged for the lead with under five minutes left by Renger van der Zande, who passed him from the inside of Turn 1 to take the lead. Zander used the GTD Pro cars to his advantage and went on to win the race by .947 seconds over Ricky Taylor.
The win snaps Porsche Penske’s five race win streak. The No. 6 Porsche Penske of Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet finished third, and the No. 7 Porsche Penske of Nick Tandy and Felipe Nasr finished fourth.
In GTD Pro, the No. 64 Ford Multimatic Motorsports Mustang of Mike Rockenfeller and Sebastian Priaulx took home the win beating the No. No. 3 Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports Corvette of Antonio Garcia and Alexander Sims by 1.623 seconds.
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship returns to Watkins Glen International for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen on Saturday, June 22, 2025, at noon on Peacock and NBC.
