
The Toronto Argonauts signed defensive lineman Brevin Allen and released defensive backs Quincy Mauger and Lawrence Johnson on Wednesday.
Brevin Allen is six foot four and weighs 265 pounds. The 24-year-old from Greensboro, North Carolina, signed with the Memphis Showboats on January 14, 2025. He attended training camp and was released on March 20, 2025.
The Los Angeles Chargers signed Allen as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. In 2023, Allen made six tackles (6 solos) in three preseason games. He dressed for two regular season games. The Chargers released him on May 14, 2024.
The Green Bay Packers signed Allen on August 7, 2024. In 2024, he made two tackles (2 solos), and one sack in three preseason games. The Packers released him on August 27, 2024. The New England Patriots signed Allen on August 29, 2024. He spent five days on the practice squad before the Patriots released him on September 3, 2024.
Collegiately, Allen played five years at Campbell University (2018-22) making 148 tackles (71 solos, 77 assists), 38 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks, one interception, five pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 44 games for the Fighting Camels. He was named a two-time Second Team All-Big South, First Team All-Big South, and All-American by AFCA.
Quincy Mauger is six foot and weighs 206 pounds. The 30-year-old from Marietta, Georgia, made two tackles against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in a preseason game last week.
The Atlanta Falcons signed Mauger as an undrafted free agent on May 1, 2017. In 2017, he made six tackles (5 solos, 1 assist) in four preseason games. He suffered a knee injury and missed the 2017 season. The Falcons released him on June 11, 2018.
Next, he signed with the Oakland Raiders on August 9, 2018. In 2018, he made four tackles (2 solos, 2 assists) in four preseason games. The Raiders released him on September 1, 2018. In 2019, Mauger played for the Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) making one tackle (1 solo) in one game.

Lawrence Johnson is six foot and weighs 205 pounds. The 25-year-old from St. Louis, Missouri, signed with the Toronto Argonauts on January 10, 2025. In 2025, he made four tackles against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in a preseason game last week.
The New Orleans Saints signed Johnson as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he made five tackles (3 solos, 2 assists) in three preseason games. The Saints released Johnson on August 27, 2024.
Collegiately, Johnson played six seasons at Southeast Missouri State (2018-23) making 283 tackles (179 solos, 104 assists), 18.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, two interceptions for 51 yards, 22 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, completed one pass for 19 yards and made one catch for four yards in 55 games for the Redhawks.
