
The Calgary Stampeders released wide receiver Ishmael Hyman on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Ishmael Hyman is six foot and weighs 196 pounds. The 29-year-old from Manalapan Township, New Jersey, made six catches for 69 yards in two preseason games in 2025.
Hyman played for the Orlando Apollos (AAF) in 2019 making four catches for 60 yards in five games before the league folded after eight weeks of play. Next, he spent time with the Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Carolina Panthers.
The Michigan Panthers signed Hyman on May 10, 2022. In 2022, he made 15 catches for 158 yards, two touchdowns, and seven punt returns for 78 yards in four games. The Panther released him on July 27, 2022, and he signed with the Green Bay Packers on July 28, 2022. In 2022, he made two catches for 17 yards, one carry for 11 yards, and three punt returns for 21 yards in four preseason games. The Packers released him on September 7, 2022.
The Michigan Panthers re-signed him on January 20, 2023. In 2023, he made 14 catches for 144 yards, and six punt returns for 92 yards in five games. The Panthers released him on May 24, 2023. The Pittsburgh Maulers acquired him via waivers on May 25, 2023. Hyman made one catch for eight yards in two games. He became a free agent after the 2023 season.
The Calgary Stampeders signed Hyman on January 24, 2024. In 2024, he made 18 catches for 220 yards, one touchdown, six kick returns for 125 yards, and four punt returns for 50 yards in five games.
Collegiately, Hyman was a redshirt freshman at Kansas in 2013. Then, he transferred to James Madison (2014-17) making 72 catches for 1,061 yards, 11 touchdowns, one carry for 17 yards, and three kick returns for 52 yards in 48 games for the Dukes.
