
The Vienna Vikings signed linebacker Aaron Donkor on Monday.
Aaron Donkor is six foot one and weighs 240 pounds. The 30-year-old from Aachen, Germany, signed with the Rhein Fire on February 11, 2024. In 2024, Donkor made 39 tackles (28 solos, 11 assists), 14 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery in 11 games.
In the postseason, he made seven tackles (7 solos), three tackles for loss, two sacks, and one forced fumble in three games helping the Fire win their second consecutive ELF Championship over the Vienna Vikings.
The Seattle Seahawks signed Donkor on May 14, 2021, as part of the league’s International Player Pathway Program (IPPP). Donkor played three preseason games for the Seahawks with three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) before being placed on the practice squad in 2021.
Donkor spent two seasons on the practice squad. The Calgary Stampeders drafted Donkor in the third round (21st pick) in the 2021 CFL Global Draft. The Houston Roughnecks signed Donkor on February 28, 2023. He played two games for the Roughnecks making four tackles (4 assists).
The Roughnecks released him on March 27, 2023, and he signed with the Arlington Renegades on April 14, 2023. In Arlington, Donkor made three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) in one game. The Renegades released him on June 12, 2023. The Calgary Stampeders signed Donkor on June 18, 2023. He spent the majority of the season on the practice squad.
Donkor played for the Düsseldorf Panthers in the German Football League in 2016 with 74 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks. After the season, Donkor moved to the United States in 2017.
Collegiately, Donkor played two seasons at New Mexico Military Institute (2017-18) with 32 tackles (27 solos, 5 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 12 games for the Broncos. Then, he transferred to Arkansas State in 2019 with 25 tackles (16 solos, 9 assists), and 1.5 tackles for loss in six games for the Red Wolves.
