Edmonton Elks sign OL Greg Eiland and LB Brock Mogensen

The Edmonton Elks signed offensive lineman Greg Eiland and linebacker Brock Mogensen on Monday.

Greg Eiland is six foot eight and weighs 321 pounds. The 27-year-old from Philadelphia, Mississippi, re-signed with the San Antonio Brahmas on January 14, 2025. In 2025, Eiland played six games, of which three were starts. During his time in San Antonio, they averaged 11.8 points per game, 4.4 rushing yards per game, 134.2 passing yards per game, and allowed 15 sacks. The Brahmas released him on May 6, 2025.

The Seattle Seahawks signed Eiland as an undrafted free agent on May 14, 2021. He spent three seasons on and off the practice squad.

The San Antonio Brahmas signed Eiland on January 19, 2024. In 2024, he started four games. San Antonio’s offense ranked fourth in total yards (2,966), rushing yards (962), yards per game (296.6), third in passing yards (2,004), and tied for fifth in touchdowns (24).

Collegiately, Eiland played five seasons at Mississippi State (2016-20) playing left guard, left tackle, and right tackle in 46 games, of which 34 were starts for the Bulldogs. In 2019, Mississippi State’s offense ranked third in the SEC in rushing offense at 220.6 yards per game on the ground, and in 2020 helped protect quarterback K.J. Costello as he passed for an SEC and MSU record 623 yards and five touchdowns.

Brock Mogensen is six foot two and weighs 234 pounds. The 25-year-old from Farmington, Minnesota, signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he made five tackles (2 solos, 3 assists), and one pass breakup in three preseason games. He spent the season on the practice squad and was released on April 30, 2025.

Collegiately, Mogensen played five seasons at the University of South Dakota (2019-23) making 399 tackles (172 solos, 227 assists), 15 tackles for loss, three sacks, two interceptions for eight yards, four pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 50 games for the Coyotes. He was named a two-time Second Team All-MVFC, First Team All-MVFC, First Team FCS All-American, and MVFC Defensive Player of the Year.

To make room for these two players, the Elks released defensive backs Alfred “Steve” Stephens IV and Chris Jackson.

Alfred “Steve” Stephens IV is six foot and weighs 205 pounds. The 24-year-old from Fresno, California, went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Edmonton Elks signed him on January 27, 2025. In 2025, Stephens IV played in one preseason game recording no stats.

Collegiately, Stephens IV played six seasons at Oregon (2018-23) making 149 tackles (80 solos, 69 assists), four tackles for loss, three interceptions for 44 yards, eight pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 54 games for the Ducks. In 2023, he made 56 tackles (33 solos, 23 assists), two tackles for loss, two interceptions for six yards, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 14 games.

Chris Jackson is five foot ten and weighs 193 pounds. The 26-year-old from Minneapolis, Minnesota, signed with the Edmonton Elks on March 17, 2025. In 2025, Jackson played in one preseason game recording no stats.

The Tennessee Titans drafted Jackson in the seventh round (243rd pick) of the 2020 NFL Draft. He played three seasons with the Tennessee Titans making 59 tackles (44 solos, 15 assists), two tackles for loss, and five pass breakups in 24 games, of which six were starts.

The Birmingham Stallions signed Jackson on December 19, 2023. He made 17 tackles (13 solos, 4 assists) in four games in 2024 before being placed on injured reserve and missed the rest of the season. The Stallions re-signed Jackson on August 29, 2024, and released him on January 22, 2025.

Collegiately, Jackson played four seasons at Marshall University (2016-19) making 189 tackles (110 solos, 79 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, seven interceptions for 200 yards, one touchdown, 45 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 49 games for the Thundering Herd.
