
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed wide receiver Matt Landers and defensive back Cameron Lockridge on Sunday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Matt Landers is six foot four and weighs 200 pounds. The 25-year-old from St. Petersburg, Florida, signed with the Cleveland Browns on May 21, 2024. In 2024, he made three catches for 46 yards in three preseason games. The Browns released him on August 19, 2024. The New England Patriots claimed him via waivers on August 20, 2024. They released him on October 8, 2024.
The Seattle Seahawks signed Landers as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. In 2023, Landers made three catches for 40 yards, and one touchdown in two preseason games. The Seahawks released him on September 19, 2023, Landers signed with the Carolina Panthers six days later and spent a couple of months on the practice squad.
The Arlington Renegades signed Landers on January 23, 2024. They released him on March 9, 2024. The San Antonio Brahmas acquired him via waivers on March 10, 2024. They released him on April 9, 2024.
Collegiately, Landers played three seasons at Georgia (2018-20) making 12 catches for 132 yards, one touchdown, and one carry for -6 yards in 25 games for the Bulldogs. Next, he transferred to Toledo in 2021 making 20 catches for 514 yards, five touchdowns, and one kick return for 26 yards in 12 games for the Rockets.
Then, Landers transferred to Arkansas in 2022 making 47 catches for 901 yards, eight touchdowns, and two carries for 21 yards in 13 games for the Razorbacks. His 901 receiving yards puts him eighth all-time in a single season at Arkansas with his eight TDs matches the sixth-most ever by a Razorback in a single year.
Cameron Lockridge is five foot eleven and weighs 181 pounds. A native of Tampa, Florida, Lockridge went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. He attended the Buffalo Bills rookie minicamp in 2025.
Collegiately, Lockridge played one season at Reedley College in 2019 making 47 tackles (39 solos, 8 assists), one tackle for loss, four interceptions for 28 yards, and nine pass breakups in 11 games for the Tigers. He helped the Tigers win the NCFC American Title Game Championship.
Next, he transferred to Hawaii (2020-21) making 73 tackles (58 solos, 15 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions for 88 yards, one touchdown, 11 pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 18 games for the Rainbow Warriors.
Then, he transferred to Fresno State (2022-24) making 90 tackles (58 solos, 32 assists), six tackles for loss, one sack, 11 interceptions for 210 yards, one touchdown, 17 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 26 games for the Bulldogs.
In 2024, he made 39 tackles (20 solos, 19 assists), two tackles for loss, five interceptions for 86 yards, seven pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in nine games. Lockridge was named First Team All-MWC and Second Team All-American by HERO Sports.
The Ticats released running back Chris Smith and placed defensive lineman Luke Brubacher on the six-game injured list.
Chris Smith is five foot nine and weighs 194 pounds. The 25-year-old from Meridian, Mississippi, signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on February 18, 2025. In 2025, he appeared in one preseason game against the Toronto Argonauts recording no stats.
The Seattle Seahawks signed Smith as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. The Seahawks released him on June 1, 2023. Next, Smith was drafted by the San Antonio Brahmas in the 2023 Rookie Draft but did not play for them.
Then, Smith signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on February 4, 2024. He played two preseason games with six carries for 16 yards, three kick returns for 71 yards, and two punt returns for 113 yards. Smith was released by the Blue Bombers on June 2, 2024.
The Blue Bombers re-signed him on June 15, 2024. In 2024, Smith had 12 kick returns for 247 yards, and 13 punt returns for 141 yards in four games. He finished the season on the practice squad. The Blue Bombers released him on November 18, 2024.
Collegiately, Smith played five seasons at Louisiana-Lafayette (2018-22) with 373 carries for 2,167 yards, 16 touchdowns, completed one pass for 37 yards, one touchdown, made 52 catches for 410 yards, three touchdowns, 66 kick returns for 1,556 yards, two touchdowns, two punt returns for 11 yards, four tackles (2 solos, 2 assists), and one pass breakup in 53 games for the Ragin’ Cajuns. He was named FWAA Second Team All-American in 2020, and First Team All-Sun Belt in 2021.
