
The St. Louis Battlehawks (7-2) took on the San Antonio Brahmas (1-8) on Friday night from The Dome at America’s Center. Due to the Alamodome not being available, the Battlehawks were the visiting team wearing their road jerseys and San Antonio were wearing their home jerseys.
In the first quarter, St. Louis kicker Rodrigo Blankenship kicked a 21-yard field goal for a 3-0 lead with 7:21 left. The score was still 3-0 St. Louis heading into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, St. Louis running back Jarveon Howard rushed up the middle for a one-yard touchdown for a 9-0 lead with 12:59 left. Later, San Antonio running back Jashaun Corbin had the ball stripped by Micah Abraham. Abraham scooped it up and scored a touchdown for a 15-0 lead with 8:53 left.
Late in the second quarter, San Antonio running back Jashaun Corbin rushed up the middle for a 10-yard touchdown. He later scored the one-point conversion and it was now 15-7 St. Louis with 1:23 left. St. Louis came back when quarterback Max Duggan threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Frank Darby for a 21-7 lead.
On the kickoff, San Antonio returner Jaden Shirden took the ball all the way to the 11-yard line with one second left. Kicker Tristan Vizcaino made a 29-yard field goal and St. Louis led 21-10 at halftime.
In the third quarter, the two teams traded field goals. San Antonio kicker Tristan Vizcaino made a 30-yard field goal and St. Louis kicker Rodrigo Blankenship made a 23-yard field goal. St. Louis led 24-13 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, St. Louis quarterback Brandon Silvers threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Hakeem Butler. They got the two-point conversion for a 32-13 lead with 14:56 left. Late in the fourth quarter, St. Louis running back Kevon Latulas rushed up the middle for a 23-yard touchdown. He also scored the one-point conversion for a 39-13 lead with 3:48 left.
That was all the Battlehawks needed as they defeated the San Antonio Brahmas by the final score of 39-13 for their fifth straight win.
St. Louis had 405 yards of offense led by quarterback Max Duggan completing 12 of 17 passes (70.6%) for 133 yards, one touchdown, and one carry for six yards. Backup quarterback Brandon Silvers completed 7 of 10 passes (70%) for 100 yards, one touchdown, and one carry for -1 yard.
Running back Kevon Latulas led the rushers with eight carries for 66 yards, and one touchdown, while Jarveon Howard had 12 carries for 60 yards, and one touchdown.
Wide receiver Jahcour Pearson led the receivers making six catches for 71 yards, while Hakeem Butler made five catches for 66 yards, and one touchdown, and Frank Darby made two catches for 23 yards, and one touchdown.
Kicker Rodrigo Blankenship made two field goals with a long of 23 yards. The defense made 65 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, seven pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
San Antonio had 234 yards of offense led by quarterback Kellen Mond completing 14 of 26 passes (53.8%) for 103 yards, and four carries for 20 yards. Running back Jashaun Corbin led the rushers with 14 carries for 85 yards, and one touchdown. Wide receiver Jontre Kirklin led the receivers making five catches for 44 yards.
Kicker Tristan Vizcaino made two field goals with a long of 30 yards. The defense made 63 tackles, four tackles for loss, four pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
