
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (33-15) played game three on Friday night against the Buffalo Bisons (18-28) from Coca-Cola Park. Nabil Crismatt (4-2, 3.04 ERA) was on the mound for Lehigh Valley against Easton Lucas (1-3, 5.48 ERA) of Buffalo.
At the top of the first inning, Buffalo second baseman Orelvis Martinez hit a two-run double to right field giving the Bisons a 2-0 lead. It was his ninth double of the season. Buffalo continued its scoring at the top of the third inning when third baseman Riley Tirotta hit Crismatt’s curveball for a solo home run at 372 feet to left field for a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third inning, Lehigh Valley first baseman Buddy Kennedy grounded into a forceout at third base scoring Rafael Lantigua and the score was now 3-1 Buffalo.
At the top of the fourth inning, Buffalo first baseman Rainer Nunez hit Crismatt’s slider for a solo home run at 361 feet to right-center field for a 4-1 lead. At the top of the fifth inning, Rainer hit a two-run double to left field that made it 6-1. Then, Josh Rivera hit a two-run single to center field and it was now 8-1 Buffalo.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Lehigh Valley catcher Payton Henry hit an RBI single to left field scoring Rafael Lantigua and it was now 8-2 Buffalo. Next, designated hitter Christian Arroyo hit a two-run RBI double to left field scoring Justin Crawford and Payton Henry. The score was now 8-4 Buffalo. It was Arroyo’s sixth double of the season. He finished the game going 4 for 5 with three singles, a double, and two RBIs.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, a balk was called on Buffalo allowing Otto Kemp to score allowing Lehigh Valley to get back into the game down 8-5. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Lehigh Valley pinch hitter Cal Stevenson hit an RBI double to center field scoring Christian Arroyo. Oscar Mercado tried to score but Alan Roden threw the ball to catcher Phil Clarke to get him out. Buffalo led Lehigh Valley 8-6.
At the top of the eighth inning, Buffalo got the six runs back by Joey Loperfido, Orelvis Martinez, Will Robertson, Phil Clarke, Josh Rivera, and Davis Schneider for a 14-6 lead.
Lehigh Valley were unable to get back into the game and saw their three-game winning streak come to an end with a 14-6 loss to Buffalo.
The loss went to Lehigh Valley starter Nabil Crismatt for his third loss of the season. He pitched 4.0 innings, allowing 10 hits, eight runs, two walks, and three strikeouts throwing 84 pitches, of which 51 were strikes. The win went to Buffalo relief pitcher Jacob Barnes.
