The D.C. Defenders signed defensive back Trey Dean III on Wednesday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Trey Dean III is six foot two and weighs 200 pounds. The 25-year-old from Hampton, Georgia, signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2023. In 2023, he made 24 tackles (19 solos, 5 assists) in four preseason games.
The Jets released him on August 29, 2024, and re-signed him a day later. He spent the season on the practice squad. Dean III also spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cleveland Browns.
Collegiately, Dean III played five seasons at Florida (2018-22) making 259 tackles (141 solos, 118 assists), 13.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, three interceptions for 63 yards, 24 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries in 62 games for the Gators. He was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2018.
