
The Montreal Alouettes signed running back Travis Theis and released offensive lineman Travon Taylor on Monday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Travis Theis is five foot eleven and weighs 215 pounds. A native of Pratt, Kansas, Theis went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft.
In 2024, Theis had 187 carries for 1,172 yards, 19 touchdowns, 33 catches for 385 yards, and two touchdowns in 13 games for the South Dakota Coyotes. He was named First Team All-MVFC and Second Team All-American by AFCA.
Collegiately, Theis played six seasons at the University of South Dakota (2019-24) with 187 carries for 3,666 yards, 40 touchdowns, completing 1 of 6 passes (17%) for 25 yards, one interception, 111 catches for 950 yards, two touchdowns, eight kick returns for 190 yards, and two tackles (2 solos) in 56 games for the Coyotes.
He was named a four-time All-MVFC Honorable Mention, two-time MVFC Honor Roll, Second Team All-MVFC in 2023, First Team All-MVFC in 2024, and Second Team All-American by AFCA in 2024.
Travon Taylor is six foot five and weighs 320 pounds. The 24-year-old from Miami, Florida, went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Montreal Alouettes signed Taylor on April 29, 2025.
Collegiately, Taylor played four seasons at Alabama State (2019-23) playing 16 games for the Hornets. In 2021, Alabama State averaged 21.82 points per game, 112.7 rushing yards per game, 190.36 passing yards per game, 303.1 total yards per game, 31 touchdowns, and allowed 23 sacks finishing 5-6 for the season. He missed the 2022 season due to injury. In 2023, Alabama State averaged 20.64 points per game, 111 rushing yards per game, 188.91 passing yards per game, 299.9 total yards per game, 30 touchdowns, and allowed 15 sacks finishing 7-4 for the season.
Then, Taylor transferred to Western Kentucky in 2024 playing left tackle in 12 games for the Hilltoppers. In 2024, Western Kentucky averaged 24.93 points per game, 109.3 rushing yards per game, 264.64 passing yards per game, 373.9 total yards per game, 42 touchdowns, and allowed 26 sacks finishing 8-6 for the season appearing in the Boca Raton Bowl. He was named an All-CUSA Honorable Mention.
